It's not just the officiating today that he took me there either. It's terrible everywhere. Watched quite a few games not involving Missouri and its been terrible. Its been getting worse years by year for a couple years now.

Its a shame but its just not entertaining. No rhythm to these games anymore. These clowns think they are part of the entertainment instead of letting these young men play.

Officiating won’t get better until that becomes a full time job.

The NBA has mostly good officiating because of the focus and effort they have put forth to develop officials.

I used to watch whoever was on.

I can barely watch a Mizzou game anymore.

I've been away for awhile, cuz KA.

I don't remember it being this bad, and you're right it's not just Mizzou.

I've been griping about it since the first week of the season, and like you its becoming unwatchable.

Do they have any kind of training and especially review of these guys?

and some of them just seem to want to make themselves part of the game like hey, look at me, I can stop the game just by blowing my whistle

it's making the game suck

It’s been an initiative started a few yrs ago too imo. 30 second shot clock, no 5 second call, hand check calls etc. slows the heck out of the game and often times takes best players out. Every game foul trouble is an issue, not for just ZOU.

Every official is evaluated every game! If there is something wrong, they will hear about it, but I suspect this is how the game will be called till the sweet 16. Like it or not!

I can't argue with you. Like you said, there is no rhythm to the games anymore. Just when things start picking up the whistles come out again and the entire game slows to a crawl.

Its like if a college football game had every third play from scrimmage reviewed in the booth.

I apologize. That was one of the ugliest games of basketball I've seen and that includes all the times I went to my nephew's pee wee basketball games.

Well that's interesting and not at all surprising

I thought you would enjoy reading this.

quote:

NCAA basketball referee Ted Valentine told The Athletic that he is considering retirement amid the reaction to him turning his back on North Carolina's Joel Berry II during a game Wednesday night. "I'm thinking about retiring," Valentine said. "I've had enough of people blowing up stuff. I think I've had a stellar career, and I think it's time to get ready to walk away."

TV Teddy is the second worst ref in the world. Right after the Hair.

That's the most frustrating part of the officiating dilemma for me.

You see a ref crew just SUCK for an entire game, and then you see them again and again.

There appears to be no accountability for doing a poor job as a college basketball official. Just show up, make it through the game, collect your paycheck, and be ready to do it again in a few days.

From Bass in another thread. Perfectly relevant here.

"The crew:
Don Daily - Atkins, AR
Garrick Shannon - Mosely, VA
Olandis Poole - Yorktown, VA

Poole was fired from an NBA referee job. He was one of the top two officials in teams beating the spread (one of the triggers for NBA investigations of league officials). He also worked the Florida Gonzaga game last year in the Advocare Invitational where three Gonzaga players fouled out and Vitale called him out on a phantom call on Williams-Goss.

He’s also drawn the post-game ire from Kryszewksi. He seems to be the Jamie Gorelick of refereeing. If there’s a shitty game in NCAA or NBA history, he may have been part of it. He was part of the MSU Arky debacle last week where MSU shot 40 FTs and Arkansas shot 12. He’s clearly someone who needs to be retired by the SEC. He may even be on the take. But he keeps getting assignments. "

OMG, a ref is not good enough for the NBA, where the rulebook the refs enforce is half of college basketball, and you hire him for your conference?????

Is there really no one out there that wants to be a ref.

Do conferences really have that hard a time finding qualified candidates to keep marching failures out there? Or do they just not care?

Wish a credible sportswriter would take this issue on.
It would be a popular article.

How long, how long until Mizzou receives equal consideration by the stripes in SEC games? That last 10-15 minutes was telling; very obvious. Get Tilmon out and then work on Jontay..., even if one needs to call fouls on plays with no contact...
