My Dad passed almost two years ago. He got to see Kirby come home. He didn’t live to see the results.

Dad was a quiet sort, but an absolute killer when it came to GA ball. Dad played small college ball and knew the game as only an offensive lineman knows fhe game. The end of the Richt era and the loss of Larry seemed to take some of the joy from his life.

On Saturday he loathed Tech, Clemson, Auburn and Tennessee. He loathed FL seven days a week.

When upset or excited, Dad’s favorite epitheth began with GD. He never used the F word. But, I suspect on Monday he would have said:

GO YOU HAIRY M’FING DAWGS, SIC ‘EM!!! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

How about you? Any loved ones you will remember and miss as the game approaches?

Sorry for your loss. I personally haven't lost a die hard dawg fan close to me yet. However, I understand that pain of losing close family members.

If I had to pick one person though... Larry Munson.

Oh to be able to have heard his calls and reactions this season. Would've been awesome.

Go Dawgs

I was at a party for the rose bowl game and there were 4 other guys there. Was interesting to me that right after the initial joy from the game when we hugged our wives and each other, each of us pulled out our phones and called our dads, like it wa s the most natural instinct in the world.

My dad went to the last national championship game in 80. I was about 8 years old at that time.

His best friend (who was a UGA graduate and die hard Dawg fan) died last year and I don't think it's been the same for him this season. But I've watched almost every game with him this season which is always fun. When he gets on a roll during the game it's entertaining. I wish I could repeat some of the things he says during the game but I would probably get banned. Will say one thing-during the Rose Bowl game, I thought he was going to stroke out! He loves UGA football and WHEN we win on Monday, I will be there with him yelling at the TV and then celebrating the win after the game.

My Dad was the same. As a kid it was rare to watch a game on TV. It was too far to travel regularly. We travelled to the GT game or to the gator bowl. We listened to Munson on Saturday afternoons whether on a dove field or at the lake.

If we lost Dad would get so pissed we all avoided him. I’m the same.

My Brother passed in '13 and was a huge fan. We'd always call each other athalf-time and he was usually a complete wreck...always worried that our lead wasn't big enough or if we were behind he was completey convinced the game was over.I remember talking to em from Knoxville in '01 after the game...he was on the verge of tears and unbelievably happy for me that I witnessed P-44.

I'd still catch myself going to call em at half-time
for a couple of years after he was gone.

We had some great times on our annual Jacksonville trip
and always toast em before the game.

Amen. My favorite memory with Dad was watching 4th and dumb at the gator bowl! Later seeing a grown arse bull gator —full regalia, Orange leisure suit, orange and blue Cadillac — slumped over the caddy with a half empty bottle of Jack, crying. God it was beautiful.

The rest of you guys can hate whomever you want. In my house we loath Florida with unbridled passion.

My grandma would be having so much fun with this season. She loved to give her sister hell (Auburn fan) and all the ladies at church (Clemson & SC fans).

My dad was not a football fan (or a sports fan, period). Flying was his passion. My mom, however, would have enjoyed the heck outta this season. It's just me and my sis now and while she's also an alum, she's just a big band-wagoner.

My wife and her dad, totally different story. He's got a big arse red and black bell on a metal post he installed at the corner of his house and he goes out and rings it after every win, this past Monday included.

March will be two years for me. Dad was class of '61 and loved the Dawgs. Some of my best memories are of us going to games together.

My grandmother passed back in '11. She didn't get out much and every time I called or visited, she was either watching the Braves or the Dawgs on TV or talking about them. I'm sure she would have loved to see this team play for it all.

I talk to my other grandparents once a week and they have loved talking about every game this season. They are in their 90s and could go at any time so I'm enjoying sharing time with them each week bonding over them Dawgs.

One of my dad's best friends passed away a couple of years ago from a heart attack. Was only in his early 40s, left two little kids and his wife behind. That guy went to every Georgia-Florida game from the time he graduated from UGA up until the day he died, including taking me to my first two Cocktail Parties.

I know I can hardly believe this season has been real, he would have run naked through the cold Georgia night all the way to Athens after the Rose Bowl win.

I called my dad before and after the game.

He is an old school ex football player and grew to not like Richt because he wasn't tough enough and was too soft on the players (his words not mine) and didn't realize that games were won or lost at the LOS.

Hmmmm.....

Anyway, needless to say he loves CKS and was giggling like a kid after that game last weekend.

One of my best friends ever lived and breathed UGA every minute of every day. He died of a heart attack 8 years ago at the age of 32. (He was in good shape and his death came from out of the blue.) I have thought about him more than ever this season, and have often told my wife that I wish he was here to see it. I can practically hear him now crowing about the transition to Kirby. (He was a big proponent even early on of us needing a change to get to where we now are). He introduced me to my wife and I now have a wonderful marriage and two beautiful girls. I am forever indebted to him and miss him dearly.

I’m lucky enough to still have both my parents, but after the Rose Bowl and while hoarse and still in the stadium, I had to call my dad. Every day during football season and most of the off-season, we talk about the Dawgs. With that said, we have a hard time watching games together cause he gets frustrated by even the slightest missed tackle much more than I do. There’s no telling how frustrated he would have been Monday, but I sure did enjoy telling him “I told you we could still fight back” after that miracle comeback. It was a great moment to share with him. His birthday is Wednesday, and I’m hoping the Dawgs can give him a W.

I wish my granddaddy could have seen that one in person. He passed away in 2009 but was a die hard dawg. He was old school and watched the tv on mute with Munson calling it on the radio. I’d like to think he enjoyed a cigar with Larry after that one.

Here’s to hoping all our loved ones still here and gone get to see a W Monday night. Go Dawgs.

Still have my dads dad and he has been a season ticket holder for decades. He was pretty bitter when we let richt go because of the kind of person richt was. Went so far as to at least claim he was turning coat and becoming a Miami fan.

He doesn’t get around much but likes to take morning walks at least and stop to talk to all of his elderly neighbors including Clemson, auburn, and tech fans. This typically requires that he wear a hat because of skin cancer issues from the past. I bought him one of the sec championship hats the players were wearing on the field for Christmas and I don’t think he has taken it off since except to shower and sleep.
