Why were so many GA fans in hiding in Alabama before this season?

Haven’t seen so many GA fans in Montgomery in my entire life. What’s going on around here?

Band wagon fans!
Then I don’t think most of the real fans expected to eat this far this year. I think most of us thought th 2019-2020 season would be our best shot.
2016’s team was not very good and there was a lot of attrition and new players in key spots this year, just seemed unlikely to have played as well as we have this year.

Probably the same reason Florida “fans” were in hiding in Georgia until the 1990s and then significantly disappeared over the last several years. And probably the same reason Alabama “fans” were in hiding in Georgia until the mid to late 2000s.

What's being implied here is that Montgomery is a significant bastion of Auburn fans. It's why I made the Lee County comparison.

Didn’t see so many Alabama fans in Georgia until they got good in the mid to late 00s. Interestingly o haven’t seen near as many Auburn and Florida decals on cars or hats being worn around bars. What’s going on around here?
