In all seriousness, though, this is a great hire!
And the speed of it backs up the claim that we were prepared to hire Elko right after the bowl win vs LSU, but Aranda called and inquired about the job.

he did, and it was reported a lot of places. Brian Kelly is the one who said he was staying at Notre Dame. It wasn't exactly message board rumors

Agreed. He's had really good defenses both with average recruits at wake forest and elite recruits at Notre Dame.

Except that he didn't. He was ready to take the A&M job until Aranda called and we put Elko on hold. When Aranda accepted 10 million guaranteed at LSU, it took Elko about 2 minutes to jump on board.
