FWIW, I'm hearing the DC will be Dave Aranda

I've heard low level talk of Aranda for weeks but it wasn't what I'd call reliable or noteworthy, though I haven't heard anyone mention anybody else other than the wild speculation on Texags.
Today though my dad and I were talking with my uncle who graduated and is good friends with associate AD Alan Cannon. He showed us texts from Cannon saying that Aranda is the guy Jimbo's targeting and while it's not a done deal, most expect that to go down next week.
This isn't my usual source but it seemed pretty legit.

Roger, you will have authentic street cred with me if this happens

I don't like Aranda to A&M. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy we need to turn the defense around (but then again, what do I know
)
But I'd take him just for the LULZ and meltdown 2.0 on this site.

My understanding is if Aranda wants to leave, he's the guy. He's apparently given strong signals he intends to accept our offer next week.
How badly he wants to leave when LSU backs up the money/title truck remains to be seen. They see him as a potential HC in waiting type.

So does this from Billy go hand in hand with Aranda?

Our next hire will excite many people. The type of defense he will bring will definitely be one that Jimbo likes to have that compliments his style of offense very well. It will be physical, fast, and big. The new DC will have SEC experience and is expected to bring some coaches that he currently works with that will help develop some of our weakest positions on defense. Our defense will be built around stopping the run, but also attacking the open field. He will be named after his bowl is wrapped up and will hit the recruiting trail as soon as he steps off the airplane.
It's a done deal. I can't say who it is, but I know.

Would be interesting to know who worked for the A&M athletic department longer, Alan Cannon or Wally Groff?
Over the holidays at my mom's house, I was paging through some old Aggieland yearbooks, just to look at how A&M has changed over the decades. I found a 1970 edition, and Groff was pictured as a staffer in the department. He was AD in the 1990s.
Also, in 1970, The Cowsills performed at A&M. They were kind of big back in the day, the actual family that The Partridge Family was based on. I was surprised to see a picture of them performing at A&M in that yearbook. My stepfather was a student then, but he never mentioned it.

Looks like AC has been there 38 years (28 as SID I believe). Groff was there from 1966 to 2002.

Did your sources tell you who is #2 for DC if Aranda doesn't work out?

That wasn't Billy! That was me mocking Billy.
You owe me $11.99. I don't accept picayunes! USD only.

Are these the same sauces that told you about Meacham?

Negative, though I still feel confident Liucci was lying after the fact with his "Meachum was never in the cards" schtick. Not only did I hear it from multiple people, 247, Rivals and three star guys on TA were reporting the same thing. THE TCU MODS said it was essentially a done deal.
Bottom line is Meachum left Sumlin at the alter.

Then left for Kansas... wtf
Posted on 12/31/17 at 2:57 pm to Roger Klarvin
Well frick that shite for being a little bitch then. He deserves to be at Kansas.
Posted on 12/31/17 at 2:57 pm to Roger Klarvin
Roger let's just say it's not Aranda. Then who is the 2nd choice?
Posted on 12/31/17 at 3:01 pm to Texas Weazel
Aranda isn’t Chief, he has excelled with lesser talent, is young and can recruit. Besides Venables he is the best hire you could make IMO.
Plus this board will go nuclear and we will be the ones pushing the button. I still don’t believe though
