List Gus' accomplishments & Ed O's. There's probably a few differences and reasons why he's more valuable. Not saying it isn't a lot of money, but dumb thread is dumb.

Gus is worth the money, IMO. Right now there appear to be three proven coaches in the SEC: Saban, Kirby, and Gus.
These are the only three coaches with SEC Titles.
SEC Championships for Current SEC Coaches:
5- Saban
1- Smart
1- Malzahn
SEC Division Championships for Current SEC Coaches:
6- Saban
2- Malzahn
1- Smart
At this point, if a coach can earn you an SEC Championship, 2 SEC West Championships, and four Top 25 finishes in 5 seasons, then he's worth whatever sum of money you throw at him. Is he worth $7.4 per season?.... The queestion is really "Is $7.4 million per season worth it to not have to go out and hire an unproven coach who might be just as bad as the other 11 coaches in the league who can't win championships?" If the question is asked that way, then the answer is yes, its well worth it.

Gus at Auburn = 45-21 (68.1%), 25-15 (62.5%) SEC
Ed O at LSU = 15-5 (75.0%), 10-4 (71.4%) SEC
Gus does have a conference title, from 5 years ago. Ed O holds the H2H 1-0, though
