Most of it was just hear say over the years and just blown off as a silly rumor. Saban didn't really have success in the NFL before, but he wasn't coaching a 13-0 team either so expectations were probably different then. I know it sounds as far fetched as Aliens visiting our planet, but lol you have got to think, what would he have to lose? Coaching a Browns team that probably averages just one or two wins a year and turning around one of the worse NFL teams in history does sound interesting. Any thoughts?
Wishing it will happen will not make it true. Saban's gonna head off to his Georgia lake home when he's ready. It will happen when it happens.

It's also his job to coach players up and no just ride a wave of 5*s. Saban has always been only as good of a coach as his talent was compared to his competition. When he has more talent against average coaches he win. When he has equal talent or good coaches with talent alittle below him, he loses more than he wins. Its why coaches like tuberville and Freeze beat him with less talent.
Your expectations a are unattainable. No coach in the history of organized sports has ever accomplished what you are asking of Saban.

quote:Nonsense. Brees didn't pass the Miami physical. Saban was hohum at best for Brees anyway.
. He gave the example of being at Miami and needing a QB. He wanted Drew Brees, however the money men said they couldn't afford him and they "settled" on Dante Culpepper

The Saban to the pros boat sailed several years ago. Sorry

quote:Dang Rabern, you make it sound like Saban is a mediocre football coach. Just a run of the mill HC that always seems to chalk up a few losses a year, nothing special.

For a decade now I've thought he's done a pretty good job of not only recruiting, but developing the top level recruits, and I've felt real good with how he's been able to keep that talent on campus where their talents can be utilized and his team can consistently compete for championships.

Why would he go to the Browns when by staying at Alabama he gets amazing yearly entertainment from the LSU-fan wailing and gnashing of teeth? LSU fans are still butt hurt from his successful escape from that cesspool of crime and decay, Baton Rouge, 13 years ago. And they are still in screaming denial and despair from 21-0. Why would you forgo that yearly laugh and pleasure?

Saban knows he will never make it in the NFL without a huge talent gap over his opponents.
So he had a huge talent gap in 2008 when he had an undefeated regular season and lost to #1 UF in the SECCG?

I think there is only one scenario where Saban would seriously consider a return to the NFL. Belichick suddenly dies and NE calls.

Isn't Saban like 79? His next stop's assisted living, not the NFL.
