This is my opinion, so TIFWIW...
After watching (supposedly) high quality college football all day I've come to realize that Saban is a victim of his own recruiting success; after watching the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and ACC championship games it is obvious to me that no team has as much raw talent as Alabama. That said, Alabama is NOT the best TEAM I've seen. Alabama, right now, is a collection of highly recruited individuals and some are more interested in protecting their draft stock than winning championships. That, combined with the fact that our QB is a RB trying to be a QB, means it will be difficult if not impossible to win any sort of championship until the players put TEAM first and the coaching staff adapts to our QB's strengths.

And you base this opinion (that players don't care about the team) on what?

Oh, my bad. Yes, that perfectly explains your thought process. Carry on.

I disagree. Bama is a pretty cohesive team. The biggest issue is the QB play against athletic teams.

I've been a college football fan for almost five decades... I've watched a LOT of college football. Effort is something that stands out to some, others only see what they want to see. I see players on other teams playing with more heart than some Alabama players. Notice I said SOME, not all.

What a load of horse shite. We have players that came back earlier than maybe they should have to play . Jesus Christ

I think I’m just confused of how this slipped past your keenly trained football eye until tonight. I mean teams played hard in other weeks, right?

Just because I haven't posted about it doesn't mean I haven't noticed it. It's just frustrating watching so many teams play in conference championship games that are less talented than Alabama. And, because Bama didn't play in a conference championship game, they may not get into the playoff. Like I said in the OP, it's my opinion, TIFWIW.

I'll answer your question with a question... when is the last good, thumping hit Alabama's defense got on ANYONE?

My bad. I thought you said the epiphany happened today. I’ll give you my two cents, though:

1. Our new OC never established an identity. He failed in this, where past OCs haven’t.

2. We got inconsistent QB and OL play.

3. We lost a TON of very good football players to the NFL/graduation. Not only their talent but their experience.

4. We were decimated by injuries.

All more logical than “our players aren’t about the team.”

Ronnie hurt Kerryon Johnson with a big hit in the fourth quarter of our most recent game. How do big hits equal effort though?

They don't always, but big hits send a message to the opposing offense that yards=pain. Bama has been missing physicality on both sides of the ball since the 2015 season.

I suppose "complacent" and "entitled" are the words that apply to this Alabama team, IMHO. Exactly what Saban fears most.
