....who has basically given up on football and resigned themselves to being a fan of a basketball school? My entire attitude around my fandom is changing as the football shite show winds down and basketball season starts up. I'm watching highlights, recruit videos, looking at schedules etc. Most football games I'm just getting drunk in the first half of the game and then turning it off in disgust.
frick football, let's go full Kentucky and focus on basketball.

That's all well and good until you drop 9-figures on a football stadium expansion and renovation

That 9 figure renovation doesn't seem to serve anyone who doesn't have a whole lot of money to drop on watching a game played by teenagers.
Y'all have fun with that shite.

Nah. We're disgusted right now, but a new staff will bring new hopes.

This decade started out so promising. 10–3 and 11–2 with the #10 team in the nation preseason 2012. It was looking to be like the decade of the Hogs, a return to glory.
Now look at us. 3–9 and two 4–8 seasons - the three worst since joining the conference, and the future is still very much in question. It's weird because with the exception of Petrino, we just can't seem to hire a decent coach. It's not like we're having the problem of lower tier P5s or mid-majors where we hire a good coach and he's stolen away by a richer school. One of these days we'll make an actually good hire, keep a kernel of faith.

Though I can understand and appreciate your position I've been a fan of Razorback Football for over 40 years.....this ain't the first shite show I've seen.
Give it time. Things will get better and then they'll probably get as bad or worse.

The problem at this point is that we've been bad for long enough that any recruit only knows us as a really bad team.
It matters. A lot. And it isn't going to be that easy to turn around. This is why schools like LSU, FL and BAMA jump in and fix coaching problems QUICKLY. After six full years of crap play you are just a crap team to any kid you're trying to recruit.
They were 11 at best during Petrino's final year. Let that sink in.

So they didn't pay attention to (or remember) football at all when they were 11-13 years old? Or they haven't done any research or watched current broadcasts where UofA's recent and distant history is mentioned often? I can believe that SOME may not know that Arkansas has had some success in the past, but I bet it's more rare than you think. Especially if they grew up in the state, near its borders, or a long term fan of an SEC rival.
I don't know about you, but that was right around the age I really started following football and STILL view the teams that were good around that time in a different light and give them the benefit of the doubt that some other programs don't. We're lucky the BP years happened and it wasn't 4 years of mediocrity, then you may have a point.
