With 216 yds on the ground tonight Witter moves ahead of Derrick Washington with two games to play.

He has 720 yds on the season and 2089 for his career.

Edit: He needs 246 yds in the next two games to surpass Hansbrough at #10

Dude has taken a lot of flack, myself included.

He's turned himself into a fine back despite some physical limitations.

Nothing but respect for this dude.

I'll give Witter credit.

He's stuck through it and improved each year. For the most part, he's avoided any major issues. Just done his job.

He looked terrible his first 2 years and would go down if someone breathed on him.

He’s turned himself into a solid runner that doesn’t shy away from contact. And he seems to be a great person.

I’m guilty of giving Ish the business. Bottom line is he takes care of the rock and his team. Cheers to Ish on a great senior night!

I have bitched about him too many times to count but he’s proved me to be very wrong. Hard working class act. Good luck to him wherever he goes after.

Ish has done a good job, but I think most of the credit for his success goes to the Oline. They blew open some huge holes tonight. Sitting in the stands, you could see they controlled the LOS. I was critical of Witter early in his career too. Seemed like he used to trip over the white lines on the field.

Remember when we all said Witter sucked?

His first two seasons he got crushed on several plays trying to move a safety off the hash and forgetting about the OLB scraping down the line in pursuit. He has never lived that down.

The last two seasons Witter has 278 carries and 1466 yds as a secondary ball carrier. Sony Michel has 251 carries and 1571 yds by comparison.

Henson wasn’t a bad OC when he had players. See 2013 and 2014.

Mad props to Ish...the guy has done nothing but everything he has been asked to do since getting here. Did the dirty work early in his career and became a very good blocking back. He has steadily improved each season as a runner and is now enjoying some pretty good success as a senior. That's the way it is supposed to (and used to) work. Fans all clammer for the big name 5 star guys, but the ish Witter story is the blueprint to success for MU in my opinion: hard work, stay in the program for 4 or 5 years, learn, grow and develope into successful players and people.

I said in the game thread the team needed to put a 4:50 drive together when they got the ball back with 4:55 left. And they practically did. And Witter was a big reason why.
