I'm not a big X's and O's guy like some of you self proclaimed experts. So other than crowd noise and lots of penalties and turnovers... how could State line up with Bama and actually pull off a win?

Have your D play like LSU did but don't let Hurts avoid sacks; hit about 3 more passes to WRs than LSU did.

Good Luck!

Our now pressed into duty young LBs miss a few gaps or lose contain and MSU breaks a couple big runs. MSU loads up on the line, shuts down our run game and Simmons is all over the place. MSU wins something like 24-21.

3 weeks ago I would have put our odds at 95%. But, with our injuries at key positions in the middle of the defense, I think the odds go down. One of our calling cards is complete defensive consistency and never getting out of position, but with young kids playing that can't be expected all the time.

Stop the run and take what Alabama is giving you on defense. LSU did the former, but failed to do the latter and that was the difference in the game.

You live out a 50 First Dates scenario where someone you love plants a fake newspaper so that you don't have to face reality.

Sylvester Croom, winner of 2 in a row vs Saban, comes out of the tunnel ala Willis Reed in MSG.

Inspired Dogs run a perfect West Coast Offense for 4 quarters and stun Bama, 30-24.

State's OL has to handle Alabama especially with their LB injuries. Get the zone run going with Fitz and the RBs and then start hitting them with PA.

Jeffery Simmons has to blow up the interior of Alabama's OL so that Hurts is never comfortable and so they can't pound Harris and Scarborough. If they can force Hurts to throw and contain him when he scrambles state has a chance.

Alabama not coming back out after halftime?

I'll give a "real" answer even though I just don't see it this year. But the setup is 1996.

We have to get a break early. We haven't had a lead on Alabama in 10 years. If I could write the script, we get an early FG to take a 3-0 lead then get a defensive score to go up 10-0.

Alabama bounces back and cuts it to 10-7. After a couple of punt exchanges, Fitz breaks loose on one and we take a 17-7 lead into halftime.

Mullen walks in, says "Finish it," and walks out. Alabama comes out and gets a quick score, cutting the lead to 17-14. We can't do anything and a blocked punt sets up 1st and goal for Alabama. Defense plays hard and on 4th and goal from the 1 late in the 3rd quarter, Saban elects to go for it. Defense gets the stop and the place goes crazy.

Up 17-14 in the fourth quarter, we are holding on for dear life. We can't move the ball, but Alabama is having trouble as well. Tide drives to the MSU 28 halfway through the 4th, but misses a 45 yard FG for the tie. State manages a first down and takes the clock down to about 4:00 and punts the ball deep.

Alabama starts to move the ball at will. State defense is tired. With 2:00 to go, Tide is at midfield. Something happens. Simmons breaks loose and sacks Hurts for a big loss. Crowd comes alive and we force a 4th and 12 that isn't converted. On 3rd and 5 with Alabama having no timeouts, Aeris breaks a 12 yard gain and we take the victory formation. 17-14 MSU.

Bulldogs line up in shotgun formation, with jordan thomas as TE, and aeris williams as RB... Bama lines up in Man coverage. aeries motions out wide... JT lays hard block on inside LBer. Aeris takes OLB with him out wide... Hole created on both levels... Leaves Fitz one on one with safety running full speed. he runs him smack over the safety and to the end zone.

I just can't see it happening this season. Bama can be beaten this year, but we have zero receivers because of injuries to keep them from stacking the box. They have too much quality on the defensive side of the ball.

We might be able to keep it respectable but I just can't see this year's team pulling it off unless the entire Bama squad came down with the flu on game day.

As of this moment, the only SEC team I see that can beat Bama is Georgia.
