For every college kid that loves their coach and would do anything for them there are 100 kids who believe the same coach squandered their talents and ruined their careers.

Before the playoffs were setup, everybody somewhat viewed the regular system as a playoff.
LSU beating Bama at Bama, and then having to play an extra game in the SEC championship while Bama sat home due to losing does not make much logical sense at all. That is a hard sell to me
Point 2
Bama was clearly one of the two best teams, so them being chosen as the second team makes sense.
I go back and forth with this. But ultimately, I do think it is a ridiculous concept that a team lost at home, and was rewarded by not having to play an extra game that the team that beat them had to play.

Who deserved it over the team that held the #2 ranking for the last 3 weeks of the year and beat every opponent on their schedule by double digits?
The Oklahoma State team that lost to 6-6 Iowa State in week 12, who would have had to jump from #5 to #2 to get into the game?

It was obvious after the 2012 BCS Championship Game that LSU WAS NOT the best team in the nation. The question is whether Oklahoma St. was better than Alabama.

You people who believe this are in pure denial. We were just unlucky because OSU had no defense and lost to fricking Iowa State. I hate Saban and Bama with a passion, but they would have skullfricked OSU. Bama's only loss was in The Game of the Century which was really a toss up with the team who completed the greatest regular season in college football history.

This. That title is a total fraud imo. They can boast about it, slap on "16" stickers or whatnot, but it's a complete fraud to me.
Much like the 1996 Florida Gators, I don't buy it. Sorry. Spurrier has 0 National Championships to me.

Deserve or not, it's an extremely tall order to ask a football team to beat one of the top football teams in the country twice in order to win a NC.

This is bullshite. Bama was the best team in the country that year and it showed. Oklahoma St did not deserve to be in the conversation. LSU would have ran right through them just like everyone else.
