You have 20 true freshman playing. Not that many more than Alabama (16), TA&M (18) and Georgia at 17.
At one point yesterday, Alabama had a true sophomore playing QB, with a true freshman RB, and three true Freshman WRs.

20 freshman playing in a game when the team is down 20 and fights for a win is a little different than your 4th string freshman getting a snap against Ole Miss while up by 60 points.

It's easy to play all those young guys up by 40.
At one point LSU had two true freshmen on the Oline and three freshmen DBs playing.
That was at the start of the game. Those five were starters.
