The one I saw on 48 maybe? was a targeting in that he left his feet slightly at the last second and put his crown in the facemask of the quarterback. It was certainly legit. I didn't see the other so I can't comment on it.

Regardless of if they are safe, both of them were textbook targeting. You can't hit QBs in throwing motion / after throw in neck / helmet area. Both plays the LSU player hit QB in neck / helmet area
A well coached team doesn't have these problems

Petition your president to go to NCAA and have the rule changed.
LSU is a big program. If you withdraw from NCAA they will probably change the rule to keep you happy.
