It was a long, slow night. Had some major wind gusts and lots of trees down, but nothing too serious in Sarasota. We were expecting to get some of the eyewall, but the track change really spared us the heavy damage we were prepping for.

Spent 23 hours in the SUV with two golden retrievers on the parking lots known as I-95 & I-75 before making it to bro-in-laws house in Birmingham. And am hearing house is still standing in KW. Not so sure about the boat, though...

Without power here in Tallahassee. But that's okay. My utility company just sent me a text letting me know my power has been restored, so ...

I'm stuck at a gas station with no gas. Left Gainesville to go back to Clearwater with 3/4 a tank assuming I could find gas.
Nope. Whole state is dry. Screwed. Not happy. Also laptop will die soon. SO sleeping at a gas station tonight

House is still intact, lost an 80ft oak and a section of privacy fencing, debris everywhere. Will be a fairly extensive cleanup for me, but I'm a lot luckier than so many other people.
It was bad last night and early this morning but the folks in the keys and SW Florida had it much worse. Glad that part of it is over.

Friends tree crushed his carport and neighbors car. My cousin lost his roof and house was damaged. Other than that everyone's safe.

All good from Winter Haven. Eye went right over my house. It got pretty crazy last night. The house shook for two hours straight from about midnight until 2:am. Knocked out power at 7pm. My roof is torn up and some trees down in the yard. Power is still out. The family is safe, so I'm thankful.

All good here in Orlando. My neighborhood is somehow one of the few in the area with power, so feel very lucky to have minimal damage and still have power.

Glad to see/hear that for the most part everyone is OK.
FWIW, I was in school when Hugo hit in 1989 (So I feel ya). My roommie lived out on one of the islands. After the storm, his parents bought a bunch of Pizza's and a keg the first Saturday after we got back to school. They had trees fall all around their house, but they all missed their house. They told us we couldn't tap the keg until we cut and stacked all the wood. (Chain saw's and alcohol don't mix.) You'd be amazed how fast college kids can work with the proper motivation...

When I lived in Raleigh, hurricane Fran came thru and wind was so strong that it was blowing water under and into the eves causing our roof to leak.
