Ole Miss is bound by a non-disparagement clause in the separation agreement with Nutt.

They disparaged much.... and there is proof.

If everything that Ole Miss claimed was true (and it's not.. Nutt isn't mentioned at all yet was blamed by Ole Miss), they were still legally bound.

He is going to get paid.

You think he settles or drags this out to make them get on the stand?

If this actually goes to trial and OM loses, it will also a prove yet another Level 1 violation at the NCAA level.

there are rumors (so take that fwiw) that Hoston Nutt has no intention of settling out of court.

Ole miss has spent all of their cash on the players for the past 4 years or so. Houston may have to take an iou.

HOA: Your lawn has junk cars all over it and we cannot allow that.
Homeowner: well, the school bus in the middle of the yard was here when I moved in.
Previous homeowner: Disparagement!

Good luck, Nutt.

And the reporters he is talking about is Yancy Porter who is being defiant even now. The evidence against him may just be his own Twitter timeline.

Nutt's case looks like a winning case. I think Ole Miss will settle way before deposition phase and Nutt will likely get $3-5M.

(Ole Miss/Rebel Rags fans: take note. this is what a winning case looks like)

I am not the biggest Houston Dale Nutt fan on the planet to put it mildly, but in this case he is not only legally right to put the weenie to Ole Miss... he is morally right to do it.

I have no doubt that some violations happened while Nutt was there and he should take the rap for them. Ole Miss, however, blamed him for things that happened well after Nutt was gone.

If I shoplift from a store, that is on me. If someone comes into the store after me and sets the sales clerk on fire they don't get to blame that one on me thank you.

Public Relations people should study this for decades to come as an example of how not to handle PR crisis. Everything that Ole Miss could do wrong, they've managed to do. It is breath taking in the totality of their foul ups at this point. By now you'd assume they would have done something right by sheer accident.

I don't know if Nutt will or should win the lawsuit, but do the OM fans here not care that Freeze lied to journalists and recuits?

When the journalists reported 'sources' we knew then the sources were lying, but had no idea it was actually Freeze.

I also figured there's no way of figuring out who the source was, but Nutt did and it's all there in Nutt's allegations with dates and phone calls and word-for-word tweets.

At the time, I didn't think it mattered who the source was after the info was shown later to be lies. However, that the source was Freeze is huge because it fits with what he publicly told the press and privately told recruits.

FYI..Just so you know

Nutt has no case against Ole Miss. Had he actually filed the defamation lawsuit when the reporters were stating everything they were getting from "sources" to the public he may have had a valid claim. What he did instead was, while being an a-hole was allow the statute of limitations to run out. Mississippi law only allows you 1 year to file a defamation libel/slander lawsuit from the first known verbal / written defamatory statement or action.
Miss. Code § 15-1-35, Libel/Slander: 1 year

Also, written contracts have a 3 year statute of limitations from the end of the agreed upon terms. Ole Miss made the final lump some buyout on Nutt's severance agreement in 2013...
