Is Alabama-Tennessee really the only reason Auburn isn't going to the east?

Just makes no sense with Auburn in the west. Never has. The cross over rivalries have gotten a bit stale as of late.
I mean, comon, no one cares about the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry except for people over the age of 50 that are fans of those teams. Times have changed and we deserve to have more diversity in our schedule. Playing the same teams year in and year out gets old.

No it is not. The Iron Bowl is the reason.

Agree. UT needs to win a game for it to actually be a rivalry. We need to continue our streak against UF.

Lock Bama-UT in (and I assume AU-UGA) and let the other 10 teams rotate both cross-division games. They do it in the Pac 12 and Big 10 and no one complains.

So you'd like to play Auburn every year?

Yeah I wish we could beat Florida's arse more often too.

When was the last time they beat you guys?

TSIO is such an underrated rustler.
Keeps a lot of great cross divisional matchups from happening lol

Because when expansion happened they wanted to keep the Iron Bowl at the end of the season. With Auburn in the East it would mean they could then possibly meet again in the title game, which would be the following game, essentially watering down the Iron Bowl. The SEC doesn't want that

So Alabama would play the same schedule every year if they were locked into both UT and Auburn from the east. Unless we move to a 9 game conference schedule, that won't work.

Auburn would be a piece of cake for Florida if they played every year. Auburn gets lucky and has a good team when they face Florida once every 7 years.

We should go to a nine game schedule, but everyone other than Bama shot it down.

Why not Alabama and Auburn both to the East and Send Missouri and Vanderbuilt to the west??

Overall record disagrees
ETA:
Don't worry. UT/UF's daddy is coming back east. Only a matter of time.

Yeesh, Auburn play Florida during the Meyer era?

You can't put 4 of the big 6 in the same division. That's really all there is to it.
