I strongly disagree with your position.

I believe the Southern Poverty Law Center and the ACLU should jump onboard to sue these groups for violating the civil rights of conservative, or liberal for that matter, speakers. It's what they say they are all about, right?

That bigoted little racist Morris Dees and his Southern Poverty Hate Group will never defend the rights of a conservative.

Before we devolve into a Thunderdome-esque brawl based on assumptions of what is in the law, why don't we all just read it?

Firstly, anyone espousing those views would not be invited to speak. Secondly, unpopular speech and speech that falls outside the Overton Window is the most in need of protection. I fundamentally disagree with anyone who believes free speech should have any qualifiers and that censorship is ever justified.
Honestly, I don't respect the opinion of people who say "I support free speech but not for X." If you're in favor of censorship, at least own your position. Don't do some Orwellian "all speech is free but some speech is freer than others" nonsense.

Hot takes:
Express support for rallies and peaceful protest is written into the law. Unless you believe that BLM is inherently violent, they will still be allowed to rally/protest.
Bipartisan support for the bill in both houses, with 85-7 vote in TN House and unanimous(30-0) vote in TN Senate.
Bill encourages contesting ideas that one disagrees with, but not stifling the expression of such ideas.

it mentioned "interfering with public speakers" as being a felony... so does this mean when reporters cutoff Butch at a presser and ask him why there were 14 defensive players on the field they will be charged with a felony?

Tennessee, hats off to you my friend. I only hope the rest of us will follow your lead.

I'm not really sure who brought the whole felony thing into this conversation. I can't find any verifiable source to back up that assertion.

The felony is designed to prohibit suppression of free speech ,or in other words protect free speech. Why don't you see that? Surely you don't approve of what those punks are doing at Cal Berkeley? The new law is designed to prevent that.

Why would it be a big deal if a university doesn't want a KKK rally on its grounds.
Political correctness, Conservatives, liberal. It's so fricking tired. Everyone has been so oppressed and persecuted
We are a nation of babies. And that includes conservatives too

Congratulations Tennessee! For years academia has been the bastion for far left ideologies and unrealistic world views, while using oppressive measures to keep their students from being exposed to differing opinions. Maybe this will be the beginning of a new movement to neutralize the monopoly it's had on the minds of our young people.

This cliched horse shite is what liberals call ALL conservative speakers and if you say otherwise you are full of shite.

In fact, I think it could be argued that BLM and such groups would support this law (which may be why it passed so easily) because it could be read to protect them and their "free speech" just as much as it protects the type of speakers most think this is designed to protect. Now, the real question will be how it is enforced.
