One of our former track managers got a scholarship to bowl at Vandy. I had not idea that bowling was an NCAA sport before that.

how is bowling not a co-ed sport like shooting? I mean does being male have any inherent difference?

Rifle is mixed
Rebs are female only
Cats are co ed
Coed hurts when they calculate Capitol One Cup points as points are split
If bowling was coed we probably have more jokes about big black balls

Title IX is a sexist law that doesn't allow men to compete in sports, such as bowling.

I didn't know it was actually a collegiate sport.
I guess if we can have bass fishing, we can have bowling.

the fact that the NCAA recognizes bowling but not equestrian is sad

Strength
Seems evident a man could generate more speed with a heavier ball which (everything else being equal - aim/ball placement) would give a man the advantage. Apparently the Olympic study on this estimated that men have roughly a 10% advantage in bowling over women. Other studies have indicated about an 8-pin handicap is needed on average to level the competition for similarly skilled men and women bowlers.

Equestrian is a 5 million to 10 million outlay
Bowling can be done for probably 500K to 1 million
It is all about the dollars when it comes to starting college sports.
Polo is similar in that cost of feeding, vet work, boarding, etc of horses is pretty damn costly.

Great googly moogly. Bowling is an NCAA sport???
I admit to being surprised that women's gymnastics was a thing, but in my defense I'm all for it. BOWLING? When do we add curling?
