Eason's 2016 performances were not impressive enough to guarantee him anything.

I think it's funny that some people are so down and worried about Eason as a true freshman in the SEC that they think he's going to get beat out.....by another true freshman in his first year in the SEC.

Do the Fromm-heads not think that he's going to experience the same growing pains Eason did?

Yeah, it would take probably a combination of both a serious regression for Eason (not even just failing to take the next step), in addition to Fromm just "getting it" a lot faster than any freshman for this to be a real shot at Fromm to see the field over Eason this year. And if that happened, we'd still be in a world of hurt offensively... We bit the bullet last year and ate the "adjustment year"... back to back years like that and dawgnation likely will be back to divided over the Richt firing.

I do agree though that Fromm nipping at his heels shouldn't be a bad thing for Eason... he does need to take the next step and from what was being said late last year and early during the offseason, it sounds like he might not have been quite as motivated as one would expect. If he's not excited and motivated with the supporting cast he's going to have this year, I don't know what would. You have Chubb *and* Michel returning, a lot of big bodies to throw together something resembling a functional offensive line, and hopefully have had time to develop some timing and rhythm with the receivers on campus to start feeling good about your targets beyond just Nauta and Ridley. If Chaney tries to keep running up the middle into stacked boxes again though, I will blow my fricking gasket early and often.

I saw the pains but I didn't see the growth. Eason was at his best in his first game.
