A few years ago the SEC made a rule that all SEC teams have to play 1 power 5 opponent. Teams that don't do this are suppose to be ineligible for the SEC championship game. Arkansas was given a waiver because Michigan cancelled a scheduled game. I think it should be noted that MU gave Arkansas a near 3 year notice. Arkansas shouldn't have been given a waiver

Here's Arkansas non conference in 2018

EIU
Colorado State
Tulsa
North Texas

Other SEC teams P5 games in 2018

Auburn plays Washington
Bama playes Louisville
LSU plays Miami
Mississippi State plays Kansas State
Tennessee plays WVU
Texas A&M plays Clemson
Florida plays FSU
Georgia plays GT

They are ineligible simply by being Arkansas, no?

No and if you think that is enough time to begin with then you really don't understand scheduling

Why do non conference opponents matter as to who should play for the SEC Championship? They have zero bearing.

Well I think everyone knows they aren't going to win the west. It's the point that they've got 4 buy wins when everyone else has only 3.

Damn.
And yes, I know they've played in the SEC title game 3x (largely thanks to Bama being ineligible).

If you had done some research before posting you would have come across the part that the SEC allowed Arkansas a "waiver" because Michigan pulled out of our series just a few months ago at the last minute. So, Arkansas was left with a schedule void that Michigan had to pay Arkansas 3 million since they breached the contract.

In scheduling terms, trying to fill a game slot, on the exact date with a P5 opponent is damn hard to do less than two years away. As most schedules are planned years in advance.

Now, carry on with your drivel.

It keeps the members who don't have an annual OOC rival not to load up on 4 creampuffs.

It's Arkansas. They have recent losses to ULM and Toledo

Sure and we did but that really doesn't even matter because it wasn't 3 years

They got stuck in a bad place when Michigan (the team they scheduled) backed out. It happens.

I would think a fan of 2004 Auburn would understand and have pity for that type of situation.

We had the summer to reschedule and we got screwed because of it. Everyone else should face the same consequences
