Someone convince me that Crean isn't our best option

I can't think of any realistic option that is really close. (I'd be happy with Martin too) There are a few mid majors I would like, but their appeal is largely based on them not failing yet.

I'm still hoping they get C Martin. They have so much talent coming through Missouri, and he'd get more than his fair share.
Anyway, whoever Sterk decides to hire, I'm going to feel better about Mizzou bball than I have in a few years, since the first part of the Haith days.

Crean is 4X the basketball coach that Cuonzo Martin is and probably almost as good a recruiter.
I think he has a defined ceiling. But he would be a big name and that would be an immediate boost to the program. Our program has a defined ceiling for a few years as well.
Marshall, Mack or Miller might be better coaches for us. But I'm not sure any of them are realistic options.
I do not want Cuonzo or Frank.

His peak at Marquette without Wade was just OK.
His peak at Indiana was a Sweet 16, both times followed by sub-.500 conference finishes.
He would likely give us some good years. But we wouldn't be consistently good. If he can't maintain success at Indiana, how would he do it here?

Indiana has more name appeal that what they really are as a program and he took them over at the lowest point in their history. Significantly worse situation than even we are in now.
Not sure what happened in the 13-14 season, but this season he lost two of his best players to injury. They beat kU and UNC before those guys got hurt.

Basically errthing that bass said. I'd like a hot up and comer better, I can come up with about 8 names but I don't know that any are interested. Crean would be a major step up. Don't want Martin or Romar for similar reasons.
What info does anyone have that Crean is getting fired and would come here?
I'm glad Sterk got a jump on this, looks like a half dozen P5 schools are going to be looking. He seems to know what he's doing.

No Romar, No Martin, No Ford. None of them are better than settling for what you can get.
Crean should be the new coach ASAP.
Go Tigers!

It's been all over for awhile now. He might not actually be "fired" but allowed to leave while waiving his buyout.
If this is going to happen, I'd imagine pretty quick movement after they exit the Big 10 tournament. Indiana is going to want the get in the market ASAP as well.

There has been a lot of media speculation. Not much more than that.

WTF are you talking about, he did win at Indiana. 2 Big 10 titles in the last 4 years.

Well what else are you looking for?
Indiana to come out and say they are going to fire him after the season? That's not going to happen.

I'd take Crean or C. Martin and be fine with it.

I knew you would say that, but we asked his agent if he was interested and his agent said no.
