Got lucky, at least imo. Billy Donovan is one of the best coaches in the game and decided to stay there for awhile. They had enough success at it that eventually it was a no-brainer to invest more in the program so that now they're better off even after Donovan is gone.
I don't think UGA can bet on that happening.

I honestly don't recall. Did they have fan support ? Before? Did they build? Was this riding on the wave of the football success ?
Seems like they fill up the stands. I know Gainesville is a bigger city and HS basketball is big in Florida.
As far as the arcticle goes... if Smart doesn't win the East, it won't mean he is a Clown. I think it will hurt his momentum a bit. He can obviously recruit. It is hard to look at the East right now and not say UGA will be the most talented team. I want to see that he can coach up a team. Didn't see it last year. Excuses and all.
