Due to UT getting 2 cancelled games, we need to take one from USCe and Mizzou to take 1 from UT, otherwise we will need a lot of help.....
Sounds about right. UT fires their coach AND lucks out with two cancellations to make postseason play.
Meanwhile, we're stuck with ours and another losing season.

Is anyone attending the game Saturday in Columbia? I'll be there rooting on the Dawgs.

Negatory. But we are winning Game #1 5-1 in the 9th. This team looks a lot more in control and confident than it has all season

Missouri beats UT and we win 6-3 on the road against another tournament team.....
We will get into the SEC tournament now.
And the way we've actually been playing the last 3 weeks, we have shown we can beat top teams.

It's crazy how bad SCAR is this year. I hope the Dawgs complete the sweep today

Our defense is atrocious

3 errors, 1 wild pitch, 2 or 3 passed balls through 5 innings. SMFH

Did you think we'd end this season on a totally positive note?

For as young as this team is and the way they've rebounded the last few weeks, there is a lot of hope for next year. That's my optimistic side

There's a lot of reason for optimism next year in terms of talent coming back. I just have the same doubts about development that I did under richt
Posted on 5/20/17 at 8:01 pm to tylerdurden24
Development and the fact that many of these promising freshmen will be passed over for the new freshmen, as is tradition. Notice we started winning some when Stricklin was forced to start guys with experience over injured freshmen like Schunk and Proctor, finally figured out that Locey wasn't a starter and decided that the very reliable Senior in the bullpen being used as a long reliever might be a better starting option than a wide-eyed freshman or sophomore. Maybe he'll take some of these things into next year, maybe he won't.
Next quotes stolen from another board, think it's a good observation:

Well.... the "mess" that Perno left behind was an incoming class that would have four members eventually drafted in the first 11 rounds of the draft. For all of the hype around the 2017 freshman, do we really think that class will four players ultimately drafted that high? That's why I don't buy the "talented young team" argument. We've seen the progression from a talented signing class before. and it has yet to include a winning season.
The 2015 team alone had 15 players who would go on to play professional baseball (I'm including Keegan McGovern in that as it seems like a safe bet that he will), 12 of whom were signed by Perno (Keegan McGovern and Bo Tucker were originally Perno commits anyway). We've seen what Stricklin can do with a large sophomore and junior class, and it didn't include a winning season.
I said this earlier, but I'm not sure this is a function of anyone "growing up" as much as it is playing some players he skipped over initially. We had four freshman in the lineup this weekend. Mitchell Webb wasn't in the plan to play 3B and LJ Talley had lost his position at 2B. We had Will Campbell is our RF until he got hurt. He was replaced ultimately by Tucker Bradley. Neither of those guys were even in the signing class, and basically fell into our laps when it didn't work out at their original colleges of choice. Now that all those guys are playing, we're playing our best baseball of the season. We went four weeks with Tony Locey in the rotation and Andrew Gist out of it. Is this really supposed to reflect well on Stricklin?

If you think Mitchell Webb is an upgrade over Schunk then you are crazy. The fact is the team grew up, gained more confidence and performed a bit better because of it. Webb will never hit over .225, and Schunk was one of the better hitters on the team when he got injured. As soon as he is healthy enough to swing a bat, he will be back in the line up. For now, he has been cleared to join the team for the SEC tourney, but only as a pitcher.

Schunk is a shite fielder and Webb has put some pop in the lineup while playing really good defense.
