I'd rather go all out for Penei Sewell and Nicholas Petit-Frere to be honest. If we land Ekiyor, fine. But cut lose Jarrett Bell.

That's what it's looking like. He got CB'd there today by some dude.

I say let Bell stay out West (he's never played OL in high school before this season, he may have just had a great one day camp) and take this OL group:

Tommy Brown
Emil Ekiyor
Penei Sewell
Nicholas Petit-Frere

That would be a damn good haul.

ETA: If Cade Mays decommits from Tennessee then make a run at him.

Bell's potential is still very intriguing that I'd like to see him stick.

Thinking outside the box here, worst case he could end up back on the DL...

To be honest, I'd rather Brown go than Bell (even though Brown is an OT) if we landed Sewell and Petit-Frere.

I'd agree if we were taking 25.

But with LSU, Tennessee and others being terrible we could be in position to land a ton of highly ranked kids moving forward.

Talk about a crappy time to only have 22 spots.

Well Brown is a legacy that would be less likely to transfer if he isn't seeing significant playing time in 3 years.

I don't know if we could say the same about Bell.

I guess I'd be fine with taking all of the Offensive Linemen, but what other position group would take the hit?

We need as many DBs and DLs as possible. I guess we could afford taking only 2 WRs after the haul we took last year.

Maybe we take one less LB?

With 2019 being absolutely loaded across the Southeast I'm not a fan of taking any blue or gray shirts in this class.

We could sign a monster group next year and all 25 spots will be needed.

ETA: We're already probably gonna take 2 QBs in next year's class so the remaining 23 spots need to be filled with studs.

All discussion regarding spots aside, if we land Ekiyor and Luke Ford we would be taking the top ranked players from the states of Indiana and Illinois.

Have we every nabbed the best player from either of those states before? I can't think of anyone.

A friend of mine has said that a big thing to watch was who all attended the Champions Cookout this summer at Saban's. Ekiyor was in attendance and is believed to have silently committed to UA since that time.

I was out of pocket most of yesterday due to my son's birthday so I didn't get to post any recruiting articles.

I will try to get everything posted since Sunday here now. Bear with me, it's going to be a lot.

Scotlandville safety Kelvin Joseph dropped a bombshell Monday, announcing that he was decommitted from LSU, via Twitter.

The announcement followed an effort on Joseph's part to schedule official visits, with those plans being hindered by his verbal pledge to LSU. Alabama, Florida State, Florida and many others have engaged Joseph, but they remained reluctant to bring him in for an official visit with his pledge to LSU intact.

Joseph has been on the fence with his LSU pledge for some time, often being lured back into the fold by LSU defensive backs Corey Raymond before a public announcement was made. Alabama was long considered to be the biggest threat to the Tigers, but other programs remain in striking distance.

There's no telling where Oakland (Tenn.) defensive back Woodi Washington will end up playing college football.

But there's not question the 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback has become one of the rising recruiting stars of 2017, complete with earned an offer from No. 1-ranked Alabama.

"It was exciting," said Washington, who also has offers from Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and Louisville. "They're like the No. 1 program, and a lot of DBs from that school do get drafted."

Oakland coach Kevin Creasy said "every defensive back we've had the last two years has signed to play in college," highlighted by LSU freshman Jacoby Stevens. That relegated Washington to the bench most of last season, Creasy said, but he's now in the starting lineup and often matched up 1-on-1 with the opponent's best receiver.

Against Blackman (Tenn.) earlier this season, he matched up with 6-foot-4, 4-star receiver Trey Knox and snagged two interceptions. In Friday's 41-19 victory over Coffee County Central, he delivered a must-see highlight with a one-handed interception.

"I was just running with the receiver, and the quarterback happened to throw it," Washington said. "I put my hand up and it happened to come to my hand."

Added Creasy, "He made that look easy. That's the type of stuff we see in practice every day."

Washington said it's way too early in the recruiting process for him to start making decisions on where he might go or when he could make a commitment. After all, just two months ago, he was preparing for his first high school start.

Today, he holds a scholarship offer from No. 1-ranked Alabama, the school that has produced NFL first-round picks Landon Collins, Marlon Humphrey, Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Barron and Dee Milliner during the Nick Saban Era.

"If you're a DB, that's kind of the place to go," Creasy said.

Washington also plays receiver and returns punts for Oakland (6-0), but said he prefers playing in the defensive backfield. He's currently a 4-star prospect, according to 247 sports.

"He's just so smooth," Creasy said. "He moves well and his body control is so smoother. He can match up with a receiver with cuts and double moves. ... The recent attention hasn't gone to his head. He's a team-first guy and a really good dude."

Count Justin Fields a fan of what he saw over the weekend in Tuscaloosa.

The Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison five-star quarterback took an official visit to Alabama over the weekend and watched the No. 1-ranked Tide rock Ole Miss 66-3.

"My family and I had a great time," Fields told 247 Sports.

"The game atmosphere was crazy. Even though it was a game weekend I was able to spend a lot of time with coach (Nick) Saban and some other coaches."

Fields, the top-ranked recruit in the 2018 class according to 247 Sports, has a number of suitors, as you would expect.

Alabama is battling Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, USC among others.

"Coach Saban's system sets players up for success when football is over," Fields told 247 Sports. "Coach (Brian) Daboll's offensive mind, that gets you ready for the next level. The players were cool. We hung out a lot."

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Fields is the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and No. 1 overall prospect in next year's recruiting class.

The Tuscaloosa visit was the second of five official visits for Fields after he officially visited LSU last month.

The Georgia product visited Alabama unofficially during the summer.

Fields decommitted from Penn State in June.
