If Copeland wanted to come aboard, would we still take Waddle u think? I think we're recruiting both for the slot. I would rather have Waddle.

Literally every mod that has connections to Bama's staff thinks Mwikuta is a slam dunk 5* and likely a national top 10 overall playe. But the rrecruiting services aren't quite as bullish yet, for some odd reason. He certainly has the measurables.

I actually like him more than Owen Pappoe. Just think he's got tremendous upside. Could play ILB, OLB or even grow into a DE

Would be perfect fit for AU's Buck spot but I don't see that happening

I think Waddle would have to go somewhere else for Copeland to have a spot.

Why Williams over Ross?

He's proving to be a better WR. I love his size and speed combination too. Ross is big. But his speed is questionable.

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage five-star cornerback Tyson Campbell is one of the nation’s most coveted recruits. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound speedster has said in the past that Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State are the three programs that he knows will get official visits from him.

“That’s still the case,” Campbell confirmed on Friday. “I still want to take five, but I haven’t decided the other two.”

Williams has always felt like a better fit for a West Coast catch and run type offense. He's big, but he cuts better than a lot of slot receivers.

* Defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher from Amite (La.) is the top-rated Class of 2019 prospect in the Midlands region and the No. 2 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite named his Top 12 on Friday. Making the cut for the 6-foot-5, 279-pounder were Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas.

So now we're back in his top group.

* Two top-rated prospects from the Lone Star State defensive tackle Bobby Brown from Arlington (Texas) Lamar and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from Bellaire (Texas) Episcopal have both booked official visits to Florida State for the Seminoles for their showdown on October 7 vs. Miami. Gerry Hamilton first reported the news.

At the close of the high school football season, and with all-star games and All-American games to observe, there will be heavy overhauls to the national rankings on 247Sports in the class of 2018. But already, with most teams nearing the midway point of the season, there are some players that have caught our eyes. These are a few players that have gotten Top247 bumps based in large part on what we’ve seen this fall.

Trevor Lawrence – Lawrence, the Clemson commit, remains No. 2 in the country behind Justin Fields but we’ve upgraded his rating to be on par with Field’s with a franchise grade of 100. Both have an opportunity to finish with the highest grade we’ve ever given a quarterback. In five games, Lawrence has more than 1,500 yards passing and 15 touchdowns to one interception.

Quay Walker – An Alabama commit out of south Georgia, Walker shows impressive athleticism on the basketball court, he’s got the ability to split out and play receiver on the football field but he’s most impressive as a space, edge defender, an area that he’s excelled this fall. Walker has moved up inside the Top100 because of his 6-4 frame and ability to impact the game as a pass rusher.

Tyler Manoa – Turn on one game’s worth of film from his senior year and Manoa’s physicality jumps off the screen. He’s also one of the more athletic interior defenders in this class. Manoa has jumped from a three-star rating into the Top100 and is considering Arizona, Cal, UCLA and Utah.

Rodrick Fisher – Fisher is off to another great start to his season after really emerging last year out of nowhere as a big-time talent. He’s committed to Washington State and at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds with 10.4 speed in the 100-meters and outstanding explosiveness, Fisher is one of the best pure athletes in this entire class. He’s an Army All-American that could see his stock climb even higher but he’s currently ranked right outside of the Top100.

Abdul-Malik McClain – The most athletic edge defender in California, McClain has been dominating the Trinity League and he’s a player our friends at Scout.com have been high on. After taking a closer look, we agree. McClain is a UCLA commit that has a chance to continue the tradition of scary pass rushers in Westwood. He’s up to right outside the Top100 after picking up 8 sacks in his first four games.

Kyler Gordon – He’s likely a cornerback on the next level but his ability to make plays everywhere on the football field is what impresses us about Gordon. He lines up at running back, wide receiver, safety or corner. He showcases big play ability with the ball in his hands, ball skills to make a play in the air and physicality in run support. Notre Dame, Washington and Stanford are the schools to watch. Gordon is up to the Top150 range nationally.

D'Marcus Adams – Adams is a player that was somewhat overlooked last season but us but he has tested off the charts this offseason in terms of speed and athleticism. He’s also a guy that impressed us in reviewing his junior film. We just wanted to see him follow that up with a strong start to his senior season and he has. The Florida State commit is up inside the Top200 nationally and is an Army All-American Bowl invite.

DaShaun White –
This is all about the film. Turn on the senior film for White and it’s hard not to like what you see. The kid plays the linebacker position with his hair on fire, he’s a violent tackler and he’s got the athleticism to make plays on the perimeter and behind the line of scrimmage. White is a Texas A&M commit and also been moved up inside the Top200.

Jeffrey Jenkins –
Jenkins has seen his stock really rise as a senior based on what he’s put on film. His name is buzzing in college recruiting offices but he’s committed to Iowa. He’s strong, tough, blue-collar interior player that plays both sides of the ball in high school and will fit in well in Iowa City.

So I guess we need to hold on to Quay Walker after all.

LSU continues to lead a list of elite programs for Planation (Fla.) American Heritage five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. The Tigers have long been high on the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder’s list.

“I’ve been loving LSU, and it feels like home,” Surtain said of LSU. “You know, my family is down there and I got great contact with the coaches — Coach [Corey] Raymond, Coach [Dave] Aranda, and Coach [Ed] Orgeron. They treat me like a son.”

Surtain went on to discuss his conversations with Orgeron.

“It’s just about how much of a valuable player I am and how much of a need I am for the program. He’s an energetic dude for a guy like him. He’s a great coach, he makes sure you’re doing everything right and he make sure his kids are playing at their best.”

Another team Surtain is high on is Florida State. He would not confirm a visit to Tallahassee for the Miami game in two weeks, but said it was “possible.” The Seminoles are in regular communication with the talented cornerback.

“I talk to them a lot. I talk to them daily. I talk to Coach [Charles] Kelly, Coach [Bill] Miller, and Coach [Jimbo] Fisher, those are the coaches hitting me up the most. I’ve been staying in touch the whole year, it’s always great to talk to them.”

FSU has opened the season 0-2. Does that factor into Surtain’s recruitment?

“Not really. You have your off games and on games. I know they are going to get back to it, because they got great coaches and they’re built for those type of things. I know they are going to get back.”

Earlier this month, Surtain was in Gainesville to watch Florida’s thrilling win over Tennessee. That trip vaulted the Gators into the mix for the five-star.

“The atmosphere was great. I felt the vibe of it. I felt like I was playing. The fans were crazy. The defensive played great and the offense played well. It was all around a great game.”

Look for Surtain to stretch his recruitment all the way to February’s National Signing Day before announcing a commitment. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite currently ranks Surtain as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect and the No. 1 cornerback in the 2018 class.
