My statement was not ironic, actually. It was saying, essentially, "this is a weird path to go down, but since you did.."
also, you get my message yesterday?

Bama lead for Phillips last summer, but he fell down Bama's recruiting board after the summer camps.
So why did Phillips make an official visit to Bama on Oct. 1st with Moses if he fell off the board in the summer?

I did and actually just responded. I got tied up at work and didn't log in to my TD gmail account. Thanks for the info, that makes a lot more sense now. You are definitely connected.

You seem pretty confident about bama vs lsu based on the past. This is 2017 now bro. Lsu will be a different team under orgeron now that he has full reign of the program and his staff in place. He gave yall all you could handle this past year with only a few games under his belt and a makeshift offensive scheme. I just wouldn't be so sure about your predictions is all I'm saying. This is LSU you are talking about man. I believe orgeron is going to turn it around in our favor really soon...like this season.

due to injury concerns. Bama wanted him for sure, but wanted to delay his enrollment. LSU rolled the dice and it paid off big time. He was a good player for you guys for sure.

Meh. Again, this is an opinion based argument. I would think that Pro Bowl LBers CJ Mosley and Dont'a Hightower would feel that they are just as good or better than Kwon Alexander. (Mark Barron probably feels the same too)

Yes. And then I said:

Those are all specific examples that we could measure.

So, you offer a bunch of team oriented bets as examples for what to bet between two individual players.
Smart.
Smart.

I offered a list of measurable examples that are easier to be accountable to than "he'll be better".
I wouldn't feel comfortable with a bet of "more tackles" b/c one player plays inside and one plays outside. You shouldn't feel comfortable with any of the team impact options I mentioned.
We could look at All SEC, All American, and individual awards as a metric.

We all know that you weren't just giving examples of criteria. You were giving examples of what you would bet to determine who's the better player.
Good job trying to spin that though.

Moses and Allen were higher on Bama's board then Phillips and they stole them from LSU's back yard.

From August 1st:
quote:
Despite five finalists in no specific order from Phillips, sources inform BamaOnLine that the Top247 ‘backer is a “heavy Bama lean” at the present moment. One source went on to say that it would be a “major surprise” if it were not Alabama and that if today were National Signing Day, it would “for sure” be the Tide.
October 3rd:
quote:
Alabama landed its fourth linebacker commitment in its 2017 class on Sunday when five-star ‘backer Dylan Moses surprised the recruiting world and committed to the Tide.
Moses, VanDarius Cowan, Markail Benton and Gary Johnson make up a linebacker class that has an average rating of .9606 – not bad coming off a recruiting cycle that saw Alabama sign two five-star ‘backers in Ben Davis and Mack Wilson.
So the question now turns to what’s next at the position? At one point it was thought the Tide would take six at LB, but now sitting at 21 commitments with major need on the defensive line remaining, numbers are tight. Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at remaining targets at linebacker and where they stand with the Tide.
Christopher Allen, LB, Baton Rouge (La.) Southern Lab
If you haven’t watched Allen’s tape, do yourself a favor and turn it on today. The 6-foot-4, 234-pounder is one of the most physical players in the class. Allen, who visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend, named Bama his leader in the spring, but recently said LSU was tied. The four-star prospect is waiting to see what the Tigers do at head coach to make his judgments on LSU. In the meantime he returned to Tuscaloosa over the weekend for the Kentucky game. Of the Moses commitment, Allen tells BOL that it doesn’t affect his outlook on Alabama at all, and the the thought of playing alongside Moses interests him. Allen is rated the No. 8 outside linebacker and the No. 117 overall player, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
Jacob Phillips, LB, Nashville (Tenn.) East Nashville Magnet –
Phillips was another official visitor over the weekend in Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder earned an offer from Alabama in June at camp, and has since picked up a lot of momentum to Alabama. It’s not clear how the Moses commit will affect Phillips’ standing on the Tide’s board, as the focus may turn to more Jack-type linebackers. Oklahoma is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for the nation’s No. 7 inside linebacker.
Phillips Commits to Oklahoma on October 12th
Just because it's true doesn't mean Phillips isn't a good player though. Congrats on the pickup. Again.

Hahahaha yeah just a little bit. The really funny thing is that they will spin it around and try to tell you that you're insecure. Strange buncha hillbillies I tells ya.
Just wait until we get marvin wilson and you will really see them freak the frick out...."Oh yeah we offered him but we backed off bc saban saw something he didn't like" that type of bullshite. They can't stand when other teams...especially lsu...land tOP notch talent that they definitely want on their team. Just wait and see what im talking about.

You just quoted an article saying it wasn't clear where he stood, but now it's "true" that he was dropped down the board. That does nothing but reaffirm that it's speculation.
Also, Bama fans were just arguing that they don't even play the same position, but now having Moses commit affected Philips' standing.
You guys need to get on the same page and give this another shot later.

That's not jumping to any conclusions at all
Jamal Adams never beat Alabama for what it's worth. Hootie Jones has never lost to LSU
