It's hard to believe that there were people that thought leaving the B12 would be a financial blunder.

To pack up and fly the fricking swimming team or whatever other dumb sport around the country so they can compete in the same league as football and basketball is really dumb.
The entire NCAA and college sports is out-of-whack. It spun so hard in the wrong direction. It should be blown up and rebooted with some more common sense. That obviously won't happen.

This is why the argument for paying players is weak. It can't happen. The revenue sports float the non revenue sports and that's the setup.
If we paid all the scholarship football/basketball players 3k a month we would have lost money.

These guys essentially do get paid.
Obviously the value of the education, which is significant.
They value of the food, clothing, ect that they receive from the athletic department.
Plus they get stipends, something not a lot of people know or consider.
Some places have fully furnished housing for athletes.
They already get more than they should -- on the flip side, the amount of money coming in is too high. The tv deals are absurd and don't seem sustainable.

So we just say "Just give us $100,000. You can keep the rest?" Bottom line, if someone is willing to pay, take it. Having said that, I'm not for paying players (legally) either.

I flew back from Dallas Sunday on the same plane as the McKendree U women's bowling team. How can that make economic sense?
But if a D2 school can do that, assuming an SEC team can afford to fly even the ball boys.
