My one question is this. Is there a fundamental flaw in Saban's defensive scheme against spread attacks?

I think we had the right formula this year, but we didn't have the depth that we did last year. In the first quarter, and most of the second prior to that long screen pass, we had Watson confused a bit. We pretty much shut 'em down. Once they completed that long screen to Cain, Watson got in a rhythm with a nice medium seam pass to their tight end. And then they started running tempo and it wore us down since we had no depth...

There was no real flaw with the defense.

Being one dimensional on offense is what hurt us

We had 16 offensive drives:
7 drives lasted three plays
3 drives lasted four
3 drives lasted five
1 drive lasted six
1 drive lasted nine
1 drive lasted 1 play to end the first half

We didn't have an offensive drive that lasted more than 6 plays in the second half.

That's asking a lot of a defense. They did enough to win, the offense just kept putting them back on the field.

Yep. That was when Clemson woke up. Different game from that point on.

I think Clemson was the better team and would win 6 or 7 times out of 10 if we played. Watson is dynamic and is a brilliant passer. It's clear now that you can't defend that level of play with just the defense. The best defense is keeping him on the sideline.
