It looks like SC & NC has quite a bit of talent. It doesn't look like Muschsmp is a recruiting god, but he's getting SC,NC & GA players. If he does this well that's all he needs, but the dude not pulling Florida players is a bit odd with connections he should have.

Good point on zero from state of Florida.

I was just looking into each player talent-wise. They could have gone elsewhere. USC is coming off a terrible season yet getting a top 15 or top 20 class. Really thought they would suffer in recruiting, but Boom is locking them in. It's impressive.

For reference they currently have the 7th rated class in the SEC, dead center of the pack. How low would you originally have expected them to be?

On a more positive note, they are actually 3rd in the east, with the gap between them and 2nd (UT) fairly smaller than the gap between them and 4th (UF lol). They are miles ahead of the other 3 in the east.

Stars don't mean crap.

Lamar Jackson and Marcus Mariota are recent examples of 3 star players.

It is about finding the right player and developing him.

Florida is closing with 6-7 guys that are four stars or better and are getting OV's from several more that they have a chance at landing. Florida will finish this class 2nd in the east, probably 5th in the SEC, and 10-12th nationally.

Not only is Boom a good recruiter in the sense of selling the University, opportunity, what have you, but he does a damn good job of identifying talent.

Last class he got in Rico Dowdle who is now our #1 RB. He was a 3 star with only real offers from the in state schools in NC. Shortly there after, Dowdle was named a Parade All American.

This class he has jumped on a couple of guys, Hamsah Nasirildeen and Davonne Bowen, that were in the same category when he started recruiting them. A couple of weeks after our offer, Nasirildeen starts getting offers from all over the SEC and gets bumped to 4 star. Bowen commits and through his play this season, got bumped to a 4 star by 247.

You can look at UF and the likes of Jarrad Davis who was a 3* I believe out of HS and is now likely a top 2 round pick. Its the eye for talent that I'm pumped about more so than any star rating.

The problem is Lamar Jackson and Mariota come around once in a generation for a program. People like to say stars don't matter, but there's always a better chance for a kid to turn out to be a decent college player if he was a 4* or 5* in high school.

Eh if you looked at Washington or Wisconsins rosters, I'd wager they are majority 2-3* players. Having a coach who's able to identify players who he can mold to perfectly fit a scheme is much more important than ratings.

Boom can do that on Defense, offense is another story.

Once again, stellar argument you are working on here. You should look into getting it published.

I mean, we can examine how UGA has done nothing but underachieve with 4* and 5* players...would that be better?

Funny how the same schools that rank high in recruiting also tend to win more games.

Total coincidence.

I hope they keep recruiting those 3*s, I'd like to see how much we can stretch out our series lead.
