Mullen would be fantastic at Oregon

Knows how to creatively recruit to his player type like you need to do at a place like Oregon. Would almost be like State on steroids money wise.

Didn't think of that. I'm sure he will show interest

Yeah but pretty soon MSU will be the only SEC team in the state. Will help out recruiting.

Apparently Dan hired Sexton a few weeks ago. I wouldn't be shocked if Jimmy gets him a big deal at Oregon. I guess his former agent couldn't get him the right deal and he's been "stuck" in Starkville for all these years. I personally wouldn't leave, even if I weren't a fan. I mean he just went 5-7, had a cigar in his post game presser, and made over 4MM this year. If MSU improves next year and Fitz progresses, I have a hard time believing any MSU will want him gone. He arguably has the most comfortable job in the power 5 and he's the 16th highest paid college football coach in America.

All solid points. 7 wins and he is solid at MSU. Oregon is a totally different beast

Starkville is so close to Tuscaloosa yet so far away

Most coaches would rather strive for the top than coast. Sumlin would be perfect for Starkville. Even trade?

Not this shite again. He hasn't been going anywhere the last 30 times the rumors started, that isn't changing now.
His name literally popped up for the Houston job last week.

If you think the vast majority of collegiate coaches in FBS are about anything other than a varied ratio of winning to getting paid, you are mistaken.
Finding the perfect balance of high pay and lowered expectations is the Holy Grail of coaching jobs.

To be fair, MSU was on top for a while 2 seasons ago and Fitzgerald looks to be developing nicely. MSU may very well have a top 20 recruiting class this year if a couple of our big in state guys sign on top of what we have (which they should). I think MSU, will be ok going forward. I think Mullen is a genius for staying in Starkville and raking in cash as opposed to going to a big time program and potentially being on the hot seat after two seasons risking uprooting his children from school.

Mac to Oregon (UF has banner day as Oregon has to cover buyout and helps pay Mac's buyout from CSU)
Mullen to UF
Kiffin to Houston
Frost to Moo St
Sark to Bama OC
Applewhite to LSU OC
UF DC Collins to UCF
Butch to Purdue (buyout forgiven by Vols to get rid of him)
Strong to UF as DC
Miles to Vols
Entire country scurred of UF
PJ Fleck remains a clown at Western Mich
To be very honest here, if Mac goes to Oregon, so long as Mullen is not thought to be a risk for NCAA violations, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Spurrier took over UF - with Mullen's move cancelled, or Mullen comes as his OC 'coach in waiting'. Fisher was coach in waiting at FSU for 3 years, fyi.
Mullen at UF would be interesting. Even if he went and recruited Tebow 2.0 or Dak 2.0, and even if Spurrier was HBC while Mullen worked the offense, UF could end up with a very steep trajectory and a top tier offense in short order.

I don't even know where to begin, what a horrible post lol
You're suggesting that the most ego-centric coach in the SEC take pay cut and position cut to go to UF to be OC/HC in waiting? Not a chance.

UF is elite. Moo St is a pile of turd. Who in the hell wants to live in Starkvile? Mullen is robbing his children of good health and IQ points just for keeping them there.
It's a no brainer.

He won't stay in Starkville if he gets another chance to get out.

Most adults strive for a balance between salary and job security. As someone else stated he's a top 15 paid coach in America at a school that would likely never get rid of him as long as he's bowl eligible with some 8-9 win seasons sprinkled in. Sounds pretty cushy to me.

Quite frankly, people look at this completely wrong. He isn't going anywhere until someone gives him a reason to leave.
The fact is he isn't worth 5 million+ to anyone on the planet other than state. Because he has proven he can win here, not anywhere else. Hell, he may very well be the ONLY coach who can do what he did here. So who is going to give him a reason to leave? It isn't going to be for money, we know what he is paid, it will almost certainly be for a pay cut. He's been very adamant he is going to win a championship here, does he fall back from that goal and settle for winning it somewhere easier? What offer is going to add value to his life to the point that he will uproot his family and leave what he has? What is enough for him to set aside personal ambition of doing it all where nobody thought it could be done?
Don't get me wrong, I can see him leaving. The Georgia job is one of a kind, that is maybe reason to take the risk. But Oregon? Nah, dude is raising a family. His inlaws live in Starkville, his family loves the south, nobody is trying to raise their kids in Oregon. The foundation of building a program the "right way" has taken too long. The progress has been slow and organic, the man and his family are invested in it. I think we underestimate the amount of loyalty that personal investment buys.
Maybe he leaves, I've been wrong many times before. But objectively, nah. Too much left to accomplish, too much road traveled, too high of a price point, and not this buyer. Thank God it isn't Texas.
