Except Saban runs the defense. It's always going to be good. It will take the right fit at OC for your QB to be effective. He's not a pocket passer like years past.

How did the pencil neck geek become the face and mouth of the SEC.

that's why saban has sarkisian as a consultant…for when kiffin decides to leave. it is pretty scary how smart saban is when it comes to football.

Yep, he has coaches in waiting for his asst coaches. Already learning the system and familiar so they can just step in.

Hell, Sark being unemployed and waiting to be scooped up makes total sense in hindsight, Saban just had the authority, resources, and foresight to do it.

Saban dgaf about perception either. He'll take these damaged goods coaches nobody else will touch. Which is exactly what Gus should be doing. frick what people think. If Gus grabs Briles as an OC, his offense is going to be unstoppable.

Look no further than Finebaum's good fortune
of finding a job in Alabama and then
fanning the flames of the 365-day Alabama--Auburn
battle.

Best Alabama OC ever. Ever. Additionally, the best Alabama QB coach. Ever.

If you really believe this, you haven't been paying attention this year. I used to believe it. But Pruitt and Smart are very different in how they call a football game on defense. Sure, it all mirrors Saban's basic philosophies. Bur Saban doesn't run the defense on game day.

to clarify, there needs to be accountability and sometimes berating may be needed. with coaches and their egos, doing it in public probably doesn't sit well with the coach that's getting berated. i imagine kiffin will be better with having worked under saban as he is a genius. It was perfect opportunity for kiffin to apprentice under saban and resurrect his own career. how much better is left to be determined for when/if kiffin decides to move on.

What makes you think Gus is going to run any body's offense but Gus's?

That's because Saban/Bama determine what the perception is. Saban is winning at aan unheard of clip. So when he does something then everyone perceives it as the thing they should be doing.

Just go to the coaching changes board and see how many times you see "shadow staff" mentioned.

Kiffin needs a leash. Not many coaches, ADs, can do it. If he gets too much freedom, he fricks up.... it's just his nature.

We'll see if he wants to remain a control freak or keep his job. I'm not sure, because I think he knows Laslee sucks and needs to be gone. But he won't have a yes man puppet anymore if he does that.
