My apologies if this has been covered.
I think their 2016 campaign will be the best ever. I would easily put them over 2001 Miami, 2004 USC, 2005 Texas, 1995 Nebraska.
My top ten would be:
1. 2016 Alabama
2. 1995 Nebraska
3. 2001 Miami
4. 2005 Texas
5. 2004 USC
6. 1971 Nebraska
7. 1974 Oklahoma
8. 1979 Alabama
9. 2011 Alabama (even with the 1 loss)
10. 1972 USC

If you think any team in CFB history even comes close to this team, you're delusional.

so your basis for crowning them the best ever comes simply from the schedules allowing more games than any of those other teams?
Brilliant.

OP is correct. Gumps are so spoiled they can't tell greatness anymore.

Put the 2016 corndogs up there right behind bama...they comin'

Nebraska and Miami, IMO, can't be surpassed by this Bama team.

'95 Nebraska?
Nope
That team was the most dominant team ever.

Lets get to 11-0 before discussing 15-0.

7. 1974 Oklahoma
8. 1979 Alabama
9. 2011 Alabama (even with the 1 loss)
10. 1972 USC
This may be the best all-time list I've ever seen and I agree with it.
You could also make a case for the 1983 Nebraska team. I know they lost the Orange Bowl but that team did not have a weakness. 1994 PSU is up there as well. That may have been the most complete offense I ever saw. You could almost count on one hand how many times their offense had drives that didn't turn into points.

They will have to close out the season playing a ranked SEC opponent in the championship game, then playing 2 of the top 4 teams in the country. Tell us any other team that had to do that?

This year is coming very close to the drool level the media was having over 2005 USC before the Rose Bowl. If Bama finishes the job, then we can have this conversation

are you serious 2011 LSU, 2011 BAMA, and 2016 Bama would buttrape that team. Yea go ahead and run the triple option on this Bama D it will work out real well.

Good call on 1983 Nebraska. Their offense was way ahead of its time. Hell, had they gone for the tie, they would have been unbeaten national champs with their only "blemish" being the tie.

exactly my point, those other teams didn't even have the opportunity to do that. Do you really think if nebraska played 2 more games (1 cupcake in the regular season and an extra playoff game [they played in a ccg]) they wouldn't have rolled them too?
OP was essentially saying bama would be the best ever simply because "15-0", which is disingenuous since miami, nebraska, et al didn't even have the chance to do the same.

That was never my basis. Perhaps I should have changed the title to, If Alabama wins out, that would have been better since there are no numbers mentioned. It's obvious more games are played today. There is no coach who prepares and coaches better than Saban at this juncture.

That 1972 SC team you mentioned is often overlooked but I believe they won all games by at least 24 points except one. It was John McKay's masterpiece.
Sam Bam and John Grant. JK MCKay, Mike Rae, Lynn Swann
And yes 1968 Ohio State led by Rex Kern. i think teams just finally forfeited about half way through the year. Nobody was gonna beat the Buckeyes.

this bama team would have its way with almost any team just based on its D-line, they own the back field. You give Nick Saban a month to prepare for a triple option and it will be lucky to cross the 50.
He would dare Nebraska to throw on his corners.
