Jared Lorenzen was his hero growing up. #22 was already taken

It's the number of schools he committed to before he was able to get his brother a job.

Who had some unusual numbers for a QB?
I can't recall any Bama QB having a number outside of the standard 1-19 range.

Chris Relf wore #36 in the Gator Bowl in honor of Nick Bell.

Heath Shuler wore 21. One of my favorite players of all time

Pretty sure there's not a rule against a QB wearing a number in the 20s. Bernie Kosar wore 20, and Doug Flutie wore 22 in college.
Heath Shuler #21
Michigan QB David Gardner #98

Umm in that case he would wear #2 seeing how he only commited to 2 schools including OM.
