Why the hell did he redshirt Shea in the first place...there was hardly a chance he stays 5 years anyway and he could've gotten live game experience. Now freeze has divided the fan base and put himself in a shitty lose/lose situation...either you burn a redshirt with 3 games left and essentially wasted a season of experience in a failed project that should've never been started....or you play him in his first game at f'in Aggyland with a beat up offensive line against 100k strong...i think Hugh's large beaver teeth have being growing into his frontal lobe and is now causing severe brain trauma

I thought the redshirt should of been pulled during the wofford game to give him experience. After that though, when would Shea have had time to play until now? Every game has been close.

eta: Forgot about Georgia.

I do wish he would've played Shea earlier this year in the games when we could've afforded to take $wag out (Wofford, Georgia, GSU, maybe Memphis) to get him experience but I think with the point that we're at now, he should keep the redshirt on him. No point in wasting it this late.

You've said a hundred times this year you don't support this team or staff so what else is new?

More like 6-7 times and most of those were during the Auburn game.

I think Freeze's biggest mistake is not trying to keep Devontae or Ryan this year as 2nd string QB. We only had three QBs on scholarship this year and Shea in the spring was running with the ones ahead of Jason.

I think Ryan was just done with football altogether. I don't think Switchblade could have been talked into staying. He was wanting to be the guy and he was never going to be that here.

All of this is being said with the thought that the coaches believe he gives us a better chance to win than Pellerin.

Why not burn his redshirt? If Shea is as good as we think he will be, he won't be here more than 4 years anyway. If he does stay 5 years it is very likely we are wishing in year 5 for some fresh blood. Shea isn't a Tebow where he will be winning Heisman trophies and being questioned as an NFL talent. All of the scouting analysis on him listed his confidence as one of his biggest strengths. He knows he is the future, even if he doesn't have good games. Only thing that scares me is if he gets hurt behind our awful O-Line. The experience will be good for him to carry into the offseason, program and Shea will both be better off by playing him now and having a better chance at making a bowl

This just adds to the list of dumb things.

The worst, however, is not firing underperforming (sunbelt quality) staff and finding the best coaches we can get for the job.

At first I was against Shea breaking his RS.

Now I am for it.

Looking at it do we really believe he was gonna stay and be a 5th year senior? Cause I don't.

But the positive is this. Now he will have AT LEAST 3 starts. Followed by maybe a bowl season of practice and game. That would be 4 games. Over a quarter of a season of games started. Then next year he isn't just a RS Freshman with no game experience. He is a sophomore with 4 games started last year. That's some major experience and could be very beneficial for next year.

Plus if things go well these final 3/4 games it could actually help with recruiting a little bit. You could play the "look how good Shea is, come be a part of this"

This year is and has been fricked for a while...

Why in the hell would we throw him in behind this shitshow and let him get broke the frick up also...

We just need to go away quietly this year ... start over next year and pray for 6 wins next year... It ain't happening this year!!

No matter who starts at ATM, Vandy and MSU not named Kelly we have no chance...

Got to know when to hold them and when to fold them and it's fricking time to get this season over and regroup....

The only reason I can see burning the RS is if we believed Shea could win these games and give us a little momentum going into recruiting. It'd be an easy pitch to sell to new recruits when you can say "Look at the guy who will be running our team the next few years, with him at the helm we have a real shot to win it all". Now, I don't think that's possible with this defense. As we've seen this year, our QB can break 50 year old offensive records and we still lose.

We just don't know enough about Shea to comment on whether he'll stick around for his fifth year and if we can even get him valuable experience in the next 3-4 games. He might be on his arse all night and we're risking injury due to our depleted and shitty o-line. That would be a real tragic WAOM move if he got a career ending injury in a season we are already having to write off. I'm not sure if Jim Kelly could perform well behind our patched up line missing so many of the basic skills needed to succeed at this level. Regarding Chad Kelly; I didn't think he'd come back after the MRI, even if it was possible he could. There's really nothing he could do to increase his draft stock, and I personally wouldn't risk another injury before the draft just to try and possibly go to a bowl with this team.

Anyway, I can see arguments both ways, but I haven't quite decided due to so many of the intangibles we don't know about.
