Note: McFadden also shared the backfield with Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis.

How HDN could manage no better than 8 wins with that backfield still escapes Arkansas fans.

still a beast. I think defenses were more geared to stop the run in the early 80's

Its a shame Fournette had 2 cupcake games cancelled. He would have at least 300 more when its all said and done.

Me because it was my freaking OP, that's why and if I did a top 15 then I would have had to put two Alabama RB's in it.

Any list of rbs that is not ordered by (or at least lists) ypc is pointless. Bama has had a great string of rbs recently, coffee, ingram, richardson, lacey, yeldon, henry, not one of them played 4 years (lacy was on campus for 4 but redshirted)

No doubt.

Indeed they were.

All I'm saying is that when people say "oh and look how few games he did it in!" that only tells a piece of the story.

Walker only played 3 seasons? In those 3 seasons, yes, he broke (and still holds) the SEC record for total career rushing yards.

But also in those 3 seasons he broke (and also still holds) the SEC record for rush attempts in a career.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/leaders/rush-att-player-career.html

And, because of that, he's not even in the Top 50 all-time SEC running backs for career yards per carry.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/leaders/rush-yds-per-att-player-career.html

Herschel had over half-again as many carries in his SEC career as Bo Jackson did (Bo 650, Herschel 994) but was only able to produce 6 more career rushing TDs (Bo 43, Herschel 49). You would have thought, with half-again as many opportunities, that he would have produced half-again as many rushing yards and rushing TDs, right?

But he didn't. And that's the difference between a running back who was a draught horse (Walker) and a running back who was a thoroughbred (Jackson).

Bo was the kid in class who had his homework finished before class was even over.

Herschel had to go to study hall after school.

Don't hate.

I know this will sound incredibly stupid but here it goes. Do kids really look at stats like that and if lets just say for the hell of it Fournette does and thinks to himself I want to be or at least have a shot at being #1 on that list. Does he even remotely consider coming back for his senior year? I know, I know, stupid but just a thought!

Not as a RB, you have to get into the league as soon as possible

Bo was also the guy who didn't want to practice (didn't need it I guess )

Herschel was the guy doing 1,000 pushups and 1,000 situps everyday in his mmom's station wagon in the summer with the windows rolled up.

Thanks so much for posting this. I always thought Sonny Collins was ahead of Emmitt Smith.
Much appreciated.
