I wonder why all coaches don't just fill up their rosters with 5 stars? Seems like you've hit on a formula here.

because of all the previous NCs that the other coaches actually earned at Bama. y'all have a great history, I'm not disputing that, it's just that nick saban, from what I've seen is not a great coach.

But I thought they all received a "bama bump" and are really just 3 and 4 stars?

Imagine if we had a great coach. Maybe someday.

Baw this is more dumb that I can take.

I've never said that.

The undefeated, national champion 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide featured these starters
CB - Kareem Jackson (3-star)
CB - Javier Arenas (2-star)
SS - Mark Barron (4-star)
FS - Justin Woodall (4-star)
OLB - Corey Reamer (3-star)
ILB - Rolando McClain (4-star)
ILB - Donta Hightower (3/4-star)
OLB - Eryk Anders (walk on)
DE - Brandon Deaderick (3-star)
DT - Terrence Cody (3-star)
DE - Lorenzo Washington (3/4 star)
LT - James Carpenter (3-star)
LG - Mike Johnson (3-star)
C - William Vlachos (2-star)
RG - Barrett Jones (4-star)
RT - Drew Davis (2-star)
TE - Colin Peek (transfer)
WR - Julio Jones (5-star)
WR - Marquise Maze (3-star)
RB - Mark Ingram (3/4 star)
QB - Greg McElroy (3 star)
14 of the 22 starters were 3 stars or worse. We started 1 5-star (Julio Jones). That team went 14-0 and beat Florida and Texas for the SECCG and BCS NT.
2 of our starters at linebacker were a 3-star high school safety and a walk on who transferred from MTSU. Our starting corners were a guy who picked us out of JuCo over Vanderbilt and a guy whose only other D1 offer was FIU. Our QB backed out of a commitment to Texas Tech to take our scholarship when Tebow said no, and our running back picked us over Michigan State and Iowa (Michigan didn't offer him).
So with the above rosters posted in this thread, rosters with "recruiting site stars talent" on par with basically what Ole Miss and Arkansas have today, Nick Saban went 26-2, won the West 2 times, won an SEC Title, won a National title and had 2 undefeated regular seasons.
Yea, dude can only coach 5-stars.

Link? I know it is a lot but that seems a little high. I'd guess more like 75 out 85 tops.
247 composite 3 stars signed each of the last 5 years:
2016 - 7
2015 - 4
2014 - 5
2013 - 8
2012 - 8
I know a lot of those guys are gone but I'd bet at least 10 (probably more) are still on the team.

Just in the starting rotation and special teams
Gehrig Dieter - 3 star
Bradley Bozeman - 3 star
Josh Jacobs - 3 star
Miller Forristall - 3 star
Eddie Jackson - 3 star
Aaron Robinson - 3 star
From our 2016 class we have two 3-stars and a low 4-star starting or playing tons of minutes at TE, RB and QB (Hurts was ranked #177 overall).

Nick Saban is an above average coach, at best
So if he was a really good coach, how bad would the 59-0 game have been?

Ardarius was a top 100 recruit! Bozeman was a 4 star.

I agree. Sumlin would have won just as many championships during that time frame if he were at Bama.

Correct - misspoke on that one. Was thinking about Maze.

Bozeman was a 3-star, #473 nationally per 247

Damn man, Maze's last year was like 3 national championships ago.

When I see his teams play, I see players that are well coached, fundamentally sound, in top physical condition, and well prepared to do their damn job.
Then I look at the W-L column and I know without a fact that what Nick Saban is accomplishing in the toughest division and the strongest conference in the nation is special.

Trade any coach in the SEC for the past 10 years at Bama and they would have a similar record
Les Miles proved this isn't true. He had an entire state of recruits all to himself and sent countless of them to the NFL, yet only managed to squeeze out 1 little turd of a championship on backs of Nick Saban's players no less.
