Couldn't get the votes to bring in BYU or Cincy.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. Expansion will lead to extending contracts. I get the feeling Texas and OU want out.

Let's schedule a 5:30 news conference and then jump the gun 3 hours to announce nothing.

I'm sure leaking it out was purely reactionary after BYU tweeted out that they were going to stream The press conference . obviously BYU was under the impression that they were in

Actually think BYU had spoken to almost all the Big 12 schools and they thought they had plenty of votes. They must not read "Animal Farm" in Utah schools.
In the b12... Some votes are more equal than others.

The Big XII Presidents did agree on a new conference logo before they left Dallas:

The only expansion taking place is the expansion of excuses.
Island of misfit toys. No one is happy... anywhere. SEC talk on every channel is salt in the wounds. Actually pretty funny around here.
Everyone ready to bolt but no one has a place to go. You can't make this stuff up.

Simple. The TV partners said "if y'all use that loophole in your contract to add shite teams that is the last Big 12 contract." 8 out of 10 teams don't have a backup plan so they decided to drop it.
The league actually has a lot more stability than most people think because the LHN doesn't end until 2030, no other conference will take it, and the sips have made it clear they still care about having it.
The only real danger for the Big 12 is OU realizing that we drank their milkshake with our SEC move, but for them to make the same move means killing THEIR last major rivalry (to replace them with us). Oh and they have to frick over little bro, because they will be blamed for what happens to them. I see the Big 12 lasting until 2030 at least. OU has proven to be nutless.

Didn't they fail to extend the contract past 2025 or something?
Also OSU and OU are a package deal, so 7 out of 10 don't have a backup plan. OSU can just ride coattails.

The Big 12 GOR lasts until 2024-2025 season ends, valued at total tier 1+2 media rights per year ($20+million) over the number of years.
OU can't do crap for a while. Even when it's over worst case is they join the SEC and replace us with Texas (i.e. Join Arky and us in an attempt to kill Texas).

ESPN houston was just bashing the B12 for being the most "reactionary" conference in college football
basically saying it was a joke because UH wasn't the one that got invited and then un-invited

I am so glad we got out of that chimp shite-flinging grabbassery.
They could frick up a three-ring circus wet dream.

They act as if Cougar High would be a great addition to any conference. They are another TCU; full of fairweather fans who won't support when they're mediocre. They couldn't sell out their primetime night game this weekend that had their highly ranked team play a critical conference game. I'd kill to have an Aggie night game in Houston with the weather we had this weekend.
It's going to suck in the coming years for the Houston Cougars. I imagine their president is probably putting out feelers for her next job and their AD is also looking to make a move soon. Their Athletic Department has been heavily subsidized by the school in preparation for joining the Big12 (I think it was 25+ million just this year). It was big12 or bust for them. Hard times are coming unless they get lucky again and hire another diamond in the rough type of coach.
