If they don't play this game then they should forfeit their right to play in the SECCG no matter what their record is and of other schools.

insurance covers a healthy portion, but you're not going to recoup 100% of your loss. Believe insurance covers somewhere around 4 million if the figures I saw last week are accurate. A home SEC game likely generates much more than that. And insurance won't cover money lost from local businesses, either.

well, he's retiring this year, so any accountability on his part won't really matter

Could they put down a field on an aircraft carrier, take it out to sea and find Matthew and set up shop and get this thing played.

Basically, these ADs are at a standstill.

This is pretty much it. It's unfortunate.

You have to assign some blame to Alleva as well though. LSU initially came out strong that the game should be moved to Baton Rouge. They made a similar fuss last year in the USCw game, and I think a lot of ADs in the conference were sour to this kind of tactic going forward after seeing LSU's handling of the situation.

After Florida flat-out rejected moving the game to Baton Rouge, LSU then wanted to move it to another location such as Tampa. At that time, however, people were still gathering facts about the hurricane and it was premature to say exactly what it's path would be. But there were senators, LSU admins, donors, and media condemning Florida for endangering players and safety, despite the fact that no one actually had a complete understanding of the hurricane's path. Florida would have continued to evaluate the storm into Friday but for these pressures, but instead their hand was forced. By the time LSU claims to have offered anyday/anywhere, the damage was already done in my opinion and Florida wasn't going to back down, hence the current standstill between the administrations.

Outside pressures forced them to make a decision prematurely, and their AD ultimately leveraged that into a situation where they used the cancellation to help their chances at a successful season. In doing so, there is no question Florida are complete pussies. But LSU came into this situation trying to take advantage as well and turn an away game into a home game. The perception is that LSU imposed their will on USCw last year, and Florida's AD is a lot more influential to allow that to happen to him. LSU overplayed its hand and now here we are.

Only ones to blame here are Matthew and Florida. If UF doesn't play this game, they might end up having the worst SoS in the history of the SEC. But yeah, let's make LSU do the sacrificing.

IMO, if it came down to that, the SEC would say tough shite, y'all should have figured it out when you had the chance.

That's the most retarded shite I've heard all day.

You do realize you just went on a tirade about Sankey not putting his foot down and then in this quote you say the SEC will say 'tough shite'?

Foley is one of two things:

a) a selfish tool

b) really was worried about the hurricane and the mindsets of his players (many of whom had families in the danger zone) to the point that they couldn't play a football game. Once it all was made apparent that we could have worked it out, he was too lethargic and waited too long to get it done.

Either way he is a bad leader and should be held accountable for this blunder. That doesn't mean Alleva should stomp around like a fricking 4 year old.

While I disagree with your assessment of Alleva, I'm shocked I got a legit answer to my question on here. To that, I applaud you sir.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but Alleva is acting like a child.

The thing I'm having a hard time understanding is why does anyone besides LSU and Florida care one bit what the LSU AD is saying?

Why is anyone else even listening to Alleva?

I did. There will be no options, and that scenario would not be known until the last week of the season once LSU has played Texas A&M, if it even came to that. You think Sankey is going to A) bush back the SECCG a week prior; or B) amend the SEC bylaws to give LSU the nod at 6-1 over Alabama/A&M at 7-1?

It's not a matter of Sankey being more forceful at the end of the year, it would be a matter of Sankey having no other option. Both ADs and he would look really bad if it came down to that, but at that point, there would be no other options available

It's probably already been covered, but I didn't see it so, I'll ask..

Why wasn't the new Florida AD involved in this decision. I thought Foley was stepping down Oct. 1?

Another thing to consider is that Baton Rouge's economy NEEDS every home game.

The economic impact of a home game to the city is estimated to be well over $10 million dollars.

We just had historic flooding, a ton of businesses need the money that a home game brings.

We can't afford to lose a home game financially.

I generally try to answer serious questions that are directed to me. This is a forum for discussion, not bullshite. The bullshite is fun sometimes, but I hate it when people just deflect my serious questions with more bullshite (not accusing you personally of this). Kindly return the favor next time
