I just found at least 9 hotels that had rooms available for Friday and Saturday night in Gainesille.

Where are the millions going who are being told to evacuate? It seems like Gainesville might be a good destination for them, no?

They will probably need more than 9 rooms.

My 74 year old mother who lives near the coast (Ft Pierce) is at a hotel near Lake Okeechobee. She took any place inland she could find. She lives in one of those manufactured home neighborhoods for old people with lakes and walking paths and swimming pools that tend to blow away in hurricanes. I suspect it will be completely destroyed in about 24 hours. 2016 is just such a great year.

I would be heading to NW Fla.....or even out of the State. From Central Florida down, each Coast will be feeling the impact.

But your friends sister should be good to go, all she has to do is book one of the rooms currently available.
