Tennessee-Georgia this year, Ole Miss-Alabama 2014 & 2015, Alabama-Auburn Kick 6 2013, Alabama-LSU 2011 regular season game and thousands more.

Sometimes the best team doesn't win the game. It happens all the time. A close loss determined by turnovers and freak plays isn't judged the way normal losses are. Georgia is better than Tennessee and would beat them 80% or 90% of the time if the same coaches coached and the same players played multiple times. Tennessee got very lucky to win and Georgia got double unlucky to lose that game. At the end of the season after all the games have been played and all the teams have had full opportunities to show their strengths and weaknesses is when you know who's good and who's not.

Tennessee is a pretender. The Appalachian State game was no fluke.

No, the fact that UGA/UT was close was a fluke. Take away Florida the week before, A&M the week after, and leave the players and coaches... UT wins 95% of the time.

Sometimes losses are really losses.

Hint: In this case "sometimes" means "all the times."

Rolled up to the max.

The better team won. We should not have even been in that situation. Doesn't matter 5-0

Care to discuss which turnovers and freak plays lead to Alabama losing this game?

Turnovers are often forced and are part of the game. LSU lead the nation with a turnover margin of +1.8, while Alabama was ranked 25th with a margin of +0.5.

They won the game, on the road, fair and square.

I agree. Stats are a better predictor of who played the best...who is the best team. Below is a scenario where a bias fan might believe the better team lost, but a close look a key stats reveals the opposite. Team Big A had more points, more first downs, a significantly better 3rd down efficiency rate, an edge in rushing yards, the only turnover (which the better team overcame) and a wash in TOP even though the Team Big A doesn't value it.

Team a Team Big A
Score 28 34
First downs 19 22
3rd Down Efficiency 4-for-13 (31%) 8-for-15 (53%)
4th Down Efficiency 1-for-2 (50%) 0-for-1 (0%)
Total Yards 495 393
Rushing
Rushes-Net Yards 35-218 52-296
Average Per Rush 6.2 5.7
Passing
Comp-Att 17-29 11-16
Passing Yards 277 97
Average Per Pass Play 9.6 6.1
Penalties-Yards 6-45 3-21
Fumbles-Lost 0-0 2-1
Interceptions Thrown 0 0
Time of Possession 30:54 29:06

Point well stated. Thanks.

Yeah, the better team blows a flukey 17 point lead, AT HOME. Happens all the time I'm sure that will keep Georgia fans warm at night, just like it did for us when we blew a 17 point lead at home to Oklahoma last year.

We played like shite and still won, on the road.

Georgia played their best game all year, and lost, at home.

You can cry about it all you want, and I'm sure you will, just like the rest of this board, but the fact remains, we're 5-0. Winning ugly is still winning.
