Kul should have been the DC

The inability to mend that relationship was Odom's first mistep as the head man. In fact, he let it fester to a point where it was completely toxic. This bullshite scheme has destroyed our defense.
It's done now, but the question is will Odom fix it or will he show a unexplainable loyalty to failed assistants. Cross ruined our defense.
Will Odom have the balls to cut ties after this year?

Kul was too arrogant to coach under Odom. Kul's jimmies were rustled when Odom was hired
Not Odom's fault
Not Odom's fault

No offense Jesus but how are you drawing this conclusion? How do you know Odom didn't try to make it work? Do you think he came in as DC and immediately started swinging a big dick and dictating to Kul?
It's possible, I suppose. Let's look at the facts and possible theories...
Theory One
- Odom comes in as DC, dispects Kuligowski or his ideas.
- Kul tries to bolt for Illinois late in the off-season and is wooed back by Pinkel with a hefty raise.
- The tension intensifies during the season to where they communicate through grad assistants.
- Odom continues to disrespect Kul to the point when he is named HC, Kuligowski gets even by e-mailing the playbook to the rest of the league on the way out the door.
Theory Two
- All of the above happened because Kuligowski was butt hurt; furious with Pinkel (not Odom) for being passed over as DC - feeling as a long-time loyal assistant who created DLineZou - he deserved the position based on that success and resents taking direction from a pup who was a kid coach on the staff three years earlier.
Have I missed any of the known facts in this timeline?
Which theory seems to pass the smell test better?

What does Kul know about coordinating a defense?
Pinkel passed him over for DC.
Miami didn't hire him as a DC either.

Meh. Kul was done here. Nothing Odom could have done. Hell, he left once already and GP had to talk him back in. Not a chance he was going to stay once GP left. I also don't know he is DC material. Despite his success, he still isn't one. One has to wonder why.
Whether Cross is the answer and whether the new scheme will work...I dunno. It really does bring back feelings I had about Ricker and the OL and their change of scheme.

This is the defense Odom wanted to run last year. He hired a DC who would initiate it.

Calm the frick down, we weren't winning shite this year with the old scheme either.
You've been in full on melt mode since the WVU game.
While the defense has regressed, give it a year, then start calling for heads on a stick. Cross looks over his head to me, but knee jerking him now means Odom will never get a decent coach in here after Cross leaves.
Stick with it, see what happens. If it fails move on. Obviously, Odom thinks this scheme will lead to wins down the road or he wouldn't have implemented it, and he sure as hell didn't implement it to piss people off.

We are coming off a 5-7 season and lost a lot of talent on defense. Couple that with the regime change, there's going to be growing pains.
I'm more concerned about our motivation though. We went to LSU and looked like we didn't even want to dress out. Not to mention all of the fights we were starting.
Honestly, I think we gave Etling farrrrrrr too much respect. I would have dared that fricker to pass all. day. long. Don't understand how we let a few completed quick passes abandon a gameplan.

Are you the same people who want to fire batting and hitting coaches when hitters and pitchers aren't performing.
I'd imagine so.

How do you mend fences with a man in your workplace that is pissed and doesn't want to talk to you for these reasons:
1. He feels he has put in more time and is more qualified than you to do your job.
2. He doesn't want a friendship with you, he wants your job because he wants what is best for the company and in his mind the best thing for the company is him taking your job.
3. The fact that your head boss passed him up for you to have the job he has been wanting for years.
4. IF you get promoted do you really think he is going to take that job under you when being under you is the very problem he has from the beginning? Use your freaking brain.
So please Dr. Phil what would you do if the solution the man wants is for your to give him your job? Do you change your entire coaching philosophy that landed you a big time job so that he might like you a little more, though he still will view your very existence at the Company in that job as the problem?
Seriously, sometimes I think some of you have never worked in the real world or dealt with interpersonal conflict in real life.
