I have no problem with him transferring, but what is he going to do the rest of this season? Seems sticking it out and getting practice reps, working out, and getting backup game reps made more sense than leaving 4 games into the season.
This was obviously a decision made solely on emotion, not common sense. Hell, Hunt could go down on any play and the kid would then be the man. If you use this as an indicator of his decision making ability, then we're probably lucky he's gone.

Barnett is way overhyped. Got beat out by Coker and another true freshman for Christs sake

You mean a true freshman got beat out by a senior last year? A senior that led Alabama to a SEC title and national title? Gee. Figure that.

As for this year, Barnett is the more accurate passer and will probably be a better pro prospect that Hurts will.

Huge blow. This will cost us, my word

Agreed..this definitely blows..it could cost us, but maybe it will not. Saban and Kiffin will play the hand they are dealt..not the hand they wish they were dealt.. I trust them to adjust accordingly

There was the possibility that the continuing qb battle could have divided the team, so at least that for sure won't happen now.

The rule is that he has to sit out an academic year. He is a smart kid. He will be eligible by August. Keep an eye on Oregon. Ducks may want kiffin by December.

WOW. What happens if Hurts get hurt? Cupper Blankman?

It's funny. Two Vol posters on the first page voicing concern about the health of our QB. Subliminally hoping for the worst for Hurts?

No matter...Hurts has shown that he can take a hit and can get out of bounds when he needs to.

I'd also like to point out that Bateman is probably a better option to turn to than what UT has on the sideline behind Dobbs.

Oh ok. So that would actually make sense.

He's a very talented QB. Somebody is going to get a good one. Sorry it didn't work out for him at UA.

I don't think it was much of a battle anymore. Hurts is the starter, Barnett is #2.

Barnett didn't even get a snap in the Ole Miss game, did he?

I had high hopes that Barnett could get it done, but he has always looked overwhelmed when he's on the field.

Just to play Devil's advocate, it could be something serious going on at home.

On the surface, it looks like he knew he was not going to start and just left, but we are being a little unfair making that leap until someone actually comments.

Wasn't that the pimple faced kid that got up in other recruits ear with 'roll tide' once he committed. God was he obnoxious!

I wonder if it has anything to do with illness. Something happened last spring that put him in the hospital having blood transfusions. Heard he had some recent issues also.

Also word is his mama has raising cain and threatening transfer.

Maybe his career will go better than the other QB transfers we've had under Saban.

Ely started and beat Arky
Del Rio is the starter at Florida
Morris started at North Texas
Sims played a lot at Virginia but was stupid

And that is off the top of my head. Most of the QB transfers have had quite successful post Bama careers.

Best of luck to Blake. Hope he gets plenty of playing time with a team on the left coast. I don't mind the timing. As much as we like to act like Saban is some cold-blooded a-hole, he generally gives his players good advice. Maybe leaving now sets Blake up with the best possible opportunity to succeed elsewhere.

What's up with these California QBs in the SEC? Rickey Town is behind a freshman 3* for 3rd string...only because Rafe Peavey transferred to start the semester

Gonna always be like this now. Any top recruit that doesn't start at QB to a player of equal or lesser age is gone.
