I hate to hear this, but here we go again. People knocked last year's protesters for knowing what they knew.

Great. A bunch of drunk frat-stars being dicks, and here we go again.

The protesters claimed systemic racism and institutional racism. This is neither of those.

For a change, we are in agreement. This is just more of what we know exists everywhere - ugly but individual acts of racism committed by individuals or small groups. Nothing about it is systemic, institutional, or condoned/accepted by the University.
They're feeding the fire though, unfortunately.

It's the opposite of systemic, institutional racism. The institutions (the fraternity and university) are investigating and will bring discipline.

Alleged.

Point taken. From the article, it seems as though there should be plenty of video of the aftermath at least. I have questions about the initial incident. How many guys were involved? Why did they call out the girls? Was there any provocation? Witnesses? When did video start being used?
DU and the University are handling it the right way.

WTF, people. N bombs in this day and age, your life is really that insignificant?
Quick action by the University but why the need to wear black all week?

How is dropping the n-bomb a "micro-aggression" ... that seems more like full-on aggressive

WTF is a "micro-aggression" anyway?
One millionth of an aggression?
What's next, pico-aggressions?
Who comes up with this shite?
People are dumb.

No, not a fraternity!
Such bastions of forward-thinking, respect, and inclusiveness.

I had the same reaction.

Lets not generalize fraternities. I hate when the actions of a few ruin it for everyone. Fraternities do not condone racism...

Agreed. If you said "two guys from the 6th floor of Gillett yelled racial slurs," no one would say "stupid 6th floorers of Gillett are always racist."

I won't get on my soap box about Greeks. But I will say this. There are ignorant "frat stars", sure, but for the mast part, Greeks volunteer more, raise more money, hold leadership positions on campus and hold higher GPAs than the overall student population. Yet, they get lumped into a homogenous group whenever any Greek does something stupid. Non-Greek students don't get that same treatment.

I thought that was throwing couches out the window. Or was that Schurz?

When I was in college I lived on the 1st Floor of the newest dorm at SMS. So new, it was called New Hall.
We were very creative at the teachers college.
Anyway, the first floor was the handicapped equipped floor, so it was affectionately know as "The Tard Floor".
We all embraced that title.
I submit that the only tards on that floor were me and my suite mates. But we partied with the blind, paralyzed, and deaf on the regular, and it was a blast.
I guess this would be considered a micro-aggression now.

No, not really.
For fricks sake. Some kids used a racial slur. It's being dealt with. The end.
