Can't fire the coach after he wins their super bowl and gets carried off the field.

Why do you guys think Herman is sure success? Last year it was Jimbo looking like Mr. Universe. Herman is a great coach, especially on offense but he could fail in the SEC playing tough opponents every single week.
LSU has one of the most fickle fanbases in the country. What happens if Herman drops a few games to P5 schools?

Orgeron is a popular local guy and bringing in some former LSU players to Coach.
It is going to be very difficult to bring in a new Coach without completely cleaning house except for Aranda.
I think you have your new Coaching staff right now.

will Saban throw the LSU game this year to bait the Tigahs into keeping Coach O on full time?

You're showing recruits change is coming on offense and they will continue to be able to recruit WR's and get better QB's or actually utilize the QB's talent.
No, you are showing recruits the guys who recruited them might not be around next year and that there is no certainty who will be there.
quote:
You are letting candidates know there is an opening.
They don't need months of vacancy "to know." A few weeks in December is enough. There is no proof more time than that helps anything. Actually I could see Herman getting tired of denying it for months as he prepared to a playoffs run while LSU fans demand some sort of certainty.

They are obviously looking to salvage the season and move forward.
Yeah but in that is the implication that they fricked up for not firing him earlier, hence my questions about the timing.

You would think you would be cheering the move if t was so horrible.
You don't understand how this forum works.

Would be tGOAT troll move

If anything, firing a coach who is 2-2 (where both games came down to the last play) with plenty to play for going forward, shows future candidates that LSU is NOT the place to go. Unreasonable expectations and what not.

I think SaBear is just the man to have that kind of forward thinking approach, unless LSU somehow manages to come in to that game with only 1 SEC loss.

if a prospective hire doesn't think he can come here and have as good or an even better run than what LSU experienced the last 15 years, then i don't want him.
Low expectations is for places like Texas A&M

It's not my team but I see the move as being a good one.
Are there risks? Of course and you cannot mitigate all of them, but they made a good move. The recruiting class will have time to get over the change and either leave or stay.
They could still leave at the end of the season as well. No guarantee they stick because Les remains all year.
Obviously a bad chemistry developing and could completely poison the program. You have to make tough decisions. All the time. Did Alleva fubar this thing from the start? Yes but he made the right move.
I doubt Orgeron is the HC next year.

Every new coach says he the goal is to win titles.
The issue is there isn't a guy on the market like Urban pre OSU or Saban pre-Bama that has those skins on the wall.

The recruits already knew this coaching staff had a chance of not being here at the end of the season. Those that would leave early would leave late so no big loss.
No you don't need all season to let people know there is a change, but the situation in the locker room could be deteriorating and becoming cancerous. If he stays you could lose a lot more recruits and the players completely quit. See Auburn 2012.
Of course Alleva fricked up but under the circumstances he made the right move.
Of course I know the board and you are now admitting you are only here to troll and flame. Congrats on showing your argument is a bad one and taking this line of argument to rustle LSU fans. You're so awesome.

if Fisher really does want to coach in the SEC as some has said then that window might not be closed. Would not blem him at all if he wasn't going down that road again after last year though.
Herman looks like Urban at Utah to me
Petrino is a scumbag but if you wanted the nice guy you could have just kept Les. He's my #3
Posted on 9/26/16 at 12:58 pm to FishFearMe
This early in the season is insane, having a former head coach on the staff helps I guess, but you just gave a bit FU to the players and fans. Why not give him until the end of October and then make the move, you still get an early lead in the coaching search.

He seems to be doing ok at a higher level.

So did Charlie Strong at one point.

Is that even a possibility?

well 99% of the fans are happy about this and if the players had an issue with it they should have beaten Wisconsin and Auburn.

Oh shite you mean Jimbo? I thought it was agreed on by everyone that ship has sailed.
I thought you meant Jeff. My bad.

Why of course? UL is a Power 5 program now that is doing well. I can't remember the last time a head coach was taken away from a very successful Power 5 program by another. Bert I guess.

quote:Yep, can't have players visibly angry to the point of questioning the HC on the sideline during a fricking game. That's bad optics for any HC, especially a HC who entered the season on the hot seat.
Why keep him for the whole season when the entire fan base is angry, boosters are done with him, and his players are screaming at him on the sideline.
quote:I agree.
It was the correct move.
