To think Bobby Petrino lobbied and begged for the job 4 years ago. But no, our AD had to get on his moral high horse and not even consider it. He instead decided to hire another loser and raise ticket prices astronomically. Not only that, he gives a guy that has won 4 SEC games in 4 years a 12 million dollar buyout!

Is that true? All of that?

It's all true, regrettably.

Unfortunately yes. But at that time, no big time power 5 wanted to touch Bobby with him creating a state job for his volleyball mistress at Arkie. It is well known Petrino begged for the UK job when Joker was fired...hell, even his father begged out to the media UK to hire him.

UK has the strictest moral guidelines followed by Georgia under Ricth. Put it this way, Garcia probably never gets to play if he went UK over SC. It extends across all sports and means a Petrino or Briles will not be on the UK sidelines calling plays.

It is what it is.

As for tickets, UK was like SC in the ability to put 70K (official capacity was listed like 67K) even in bad years because like the Cocks, the Cats had fans exceeding their historic football failures. Parking was free and prices were reasonable so you had lots of folks coming to games even when UK was not winning. Like SC, UK was in the Top 25 - Top 30 in attendance for ages.

Then came the Perfect Storm

UK hired Joker
UK jacked donations
UK jacked parking (~300 or so this year and a x 10 "donation")
UK dropped 120 million (reported) on high rollers seating while eliminating 10% to 15% of the seating capacity
UK hired Stoops and spent 120 million + 40 - 50 million on adjoining practice facilities.

I suggested to longtime ticket holders the insanity of dropping that much dough AND reducing seating with a coupled thinking that prices would not rise. Few listened and now they have gotten jacked and are not real happy.

On top of that add Stoops 12 million buyout and his assistants 6 million buyout and nothing good can come from this.
