From VQ:
"0-6 – After giving up 4 third down conversions on the Hokies first five attempts, in the second and third quarters, the Vol defensed didn't allow a third down conversion in six straight possessions.
21 – Number of points off five Virginia Tech fumbles. In eight quarters, Bob Shoop's defense has generated 6 turnovers. And the Vols have turned those miscues into 24 points this season.
11-2 – That's Tennessee's record against power 5 schools when Josh Dobbs rushes for 35 yards or more. The Vols are also 16-2 under Jones when they rush for 200 yards or more as a team"
A lot of things to feel good about in that info. Defense/turnovers and the 3 headed run game are going to be what we lean on like most of us thought. When Dobbs runs, it changes the dynamics of the game completely. Probably equal to how most offenses pick up chunk yards through the air. We just use it with a 3 headed run game that takes shots down the field or in the red zone more strategically due to Dobbs inconsistent throwing. Also, nice in game adjustments by Shoop to stop what was working for VT in the first quarter. I was really impressed by that

The first stat is very interesting. Ha I was actually going to bitch about the defense giving up too many 3rd down conversions. I really like how the D has looked overall. Shoot makes adjustments and they get better as the game goes.

Defense has looked great from the 2nd quarter on in both games. Let's just hope they figure out the 1st quarter woes before we play Florida. Exact opposite of last year

I think they will. Should have way more film and prep time for the conference games. Even though they gave up yards, I still thought they played sound defense last night other than that long run. Love Shoop so far.

X factor is gonna be Jumper. If I'm Florida I attack directly at him 25 times. Of all his faults, I think watching him in pass coverage is the most painful. Every time he is in zone, he gives the only guy around him a 5 yard cushion, especially if it's 3rd and long

Surely our 3rd string guy is better than Jumper. Or maybe we can swap up some positions at LB idk. Anything to keep Jumper off the damn field

Is Dillion Bates THAT bad? If so, you have to move jrm inside and out Cortez McDowell at olb

That's exactly what I want them to do

It's possible DK may only be out for Ohio, per Jones

DKjr is definitely out for Ohio and week-to-week after that.

No way he comes back in two weeks from a high ankle sprain. Just warning you now, Jumper will be playing against UF

We're done, it's over.

Pray for Jumper to pull a hamstring getting juked out of his shoes by Ohios dual threat QB.

Article put out today by Hubbs and crew quoted Jones saying that sliding Jalen to MLB and bringing in Cortez for OLB is definitely something they are thinking about.

They're all about getting the best players on the field and I think that does it.

Let's all hope Butch and Shoop use some common sense. I thought Cortez looked really good against App State, but then again, his father isn't some loaded UT booster

I'm not very high on this team right now, but I really gotta stop reading FL98.
It's depressing
