Still without power here in Tallahassee. ...

Almost a full week since Hermine and my neighborhood is still dark. Worst response to a storm I've seen in the U.S. and I went through hurricanes Andrew and Ivan.

Isn't flooding a bigger issue with Hermine than it was with Ivan or Andrew? I know Tampa/St.Pete floods like a son of a bitch when anything even comes close. We were down there when a Cat 1 came through the Gulf and got stuck in our hotel for a bit because of the flooding.
Ike actually made landfall, held together enough that it knocked out power here in Kentucky for about a week and a half. And wiped out a ton of our tree canopy.

Damn I'm sorry. My wife was without power for a few hours. Savannah didn't get it that bad

There was zero flooding in Tallahassee to the best of my knowledge. But, then again, I'm without power so what do I know?

Mine came on Saturday morning. My office buildings came back up yesterday on Blair Stone. These things take some time. I did hear from a coworker that the city didn't want to let anyone do power restoration but their own people and the governor had to force them to allow out of town help to pitch in. Maybe that has slowed things a bit.

That is retarded. I bet the people making those decisions had their power restored right away.

That sucks, and I know the feeling. We were without power for over a week in Birmingham after Ivan. My impression is the recovery efforts focus on areas closer to the coasts and work inland.

Sucks... I'm less than an hour west of Tally and we got virtually nothing (hardly any wind or rain).

I'd imagine so. Anytime we've had power issues up here in the winter that is more than just small pockets of outages, we usually have electric companies come in from other states to assist.

Well, according to the city utilities website, our entire neighborhood has power. Only it doesn't. My wife called 'em up and they tell us our street is not on their list of streets that still need power.
So we're either dealing with some major incompetence or a mayor that is lying to make the stats look better than they are. Either way, I'm feeling pretty fricked right about now.

We went through Hurricane Hugo in Charlotte. took 10 days to get power. Nightmare. Should have just packed it up and come to Atlanta and stayed with my parents but the power company lied daily about how much longer it would take.

I'd thought you'd have guessed batteries without me laying it out there, but ...
Batteries. My phone has 'em. I charge my phone at work or wherever I can.
Power came on tonight though, so ...
