Just how bad State really was during his tenure. I mean, all he needed was a few decent players around him.

so if Chad Kelley has similar preseason numbers next year, what does that say about Ole Miss? That they were marginally better than State?

He went 24-12 in 3 seasons in games he started and 13-10 in the SEC West at the height of it's dominance and went to 3 bowl games (including an Orange Bowl).
I mean, he played at Mississippi State. That's pretty good.

They had a 10 win regular season. Something y'all have never done in 123 years

If only they could have flipped the #1 OT, DL, and WR from oos and put them with Dak. Oh well, lightening in a bottle doesn't happen to everybody

In their defense, our records are the exact same in the past two seasons:
Ole Miss - 19-7
Mississippi State - 19-7

He's about to see NFL defenses in regular season like he saw against Bama week in and week out.
How he handles the pressure will be how successful he is.
He has looked good in preseason, but a lot of QB's look good in preseason. When the bullets start flying for real we shall see.
So far so good.
Like any NFL rookie he has a lot to learn but with a strong Oline and run game that should help him adapt like Russell Wilson.

Yeah, surround him with some other quality players and think what those numbers could have been...

This. If Dak throws it more than 20 times a game, Garrett should be canned

Anyone can define success narrowly to fit their agenda and further their point. This is the essence of tRant.
For instance, I, personally, measure college football success, especially for SEC programs, based on the number of Sugar Bowl victories a program has.
See how that works?

MSU is part of the big eight according to Bill Connelly
quote:
Here's a list of the eight teams that have finished in the S&P+ top 20 each of the last three years: Alabama, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Stanford, and (just barely) USC.

Dak reminds me of Chad Kelly and Eli in college.... Except he never lost to fricking Memphis State.

Dak is going to be fine.
Strong running game, arguably the best OL in the NFL, great WR, and solid TE.
