Forget the most gifted athlete or the fastest player or the best route runner, etc.
I'm thinking of someone along the lines of Takeo Spikes, Nick Fairley, Ronnie Brown, Will Herring, Josh Bynes...etc. Fellas that just enjoyed knocking the holy hay-ul out of an opponent.
Who's in that category this year?
It's Braden Smith for me.

I'm going with Ruffin on defense.

Who is the meanest SOB on our team?
Size doesn't matter. Percy Harvin is an example that the skilled position players can have mean streaks as well.

Deshaun Davis is known for being a hard hitter.
As far as mean streak goes I think Carlton Davis plays with a chip in his shoulder.

Ruffin put some brutal hits on some players last year.
I have a feeling Pettway will be punishing a few this year.

Lets face it, their entire career will be remembered for the 2015 LSU game by some of the more narrow minded fans of Auburn.

When players make eye-opening plays, those plays are more than likely to be remembered. It is the out of the ordinary stuff that will catch your eye in everyday life. Those moments are more than likely to be stored long term, not just in your working memory.
Ford's and Matthew's plays were eye opening for the wrong reasons.

Matthews just blows people up and shouldnt be written off as soft because of the LSU game where he was playing with a dislocated shoulder.
But youre right. Negatives stick with people longer and erase the positive. Probably explains the influx of negatigers on this site

Carlton is my favorite player to come through AU in a very long time. After the first few games last year he gained a ton of confidence and just balled. Nobody was throwing his way by the time we got around to Amen Corner.
He's just got that edge and it's fun to watch

Hopefully not. That means our defense still sucks

Positive plays stick too. I still have a vivid memory seeing Marcus Davis make that beautiful catch on third and long in '13. Somebody says Marcus Davis, I immediately think of that play.

Wait til he fumbles or drops a pass at a critical moment in the game...then that great pass will be forgotten

quote:exactly. The only way a positive will out weigh the negative is when its so awesome that no negative can ever replace it... Chris Davis and Ricardo Louis come to mind
